Well yeah cuz jeans can wear and rip on their own or you could make your own ripped jeans instead of spending tons of money on em

Oooh, you're wrangling me into this one, eh. Yes, I did comment and was quite surprised at the votes on that q. Most males dislike them on girls, and most girls liked them.
I've never really owned a pair, not even as a teenager or in my 20s. But I did try and shred some jeans and shorts one time, and it was way more difficult than I thought it would be to make them look good. I have a vague memory of doing it, but not liking the results much, so I threw them out. That was a looong time ago.
What I don't like is anything fake. Pretty much everything. Except, often facsimiles are the only way to obtain something (say, jewels, for example; or ivory or animal tusks, precious, raw materials, etc.)
A few months ago I did a cursory search for ripped jeans online, and was really disappointed with the selection (I just looked for affordable ones on Amazon, so that might be part of the problem.) They were all sort of junior styles, very very slim legs (I don't like skinny jeans with a tight ankle much), not very high quality denim, but the main issue was that they looked so machined. Like, too strategically placed, too identical on both legs, not even a chance it had happened by natural wear and tear.
I voted 'no', I don't think they're a waste of money. And I don't associate them with being trashy at all. They're fashion. People who think they're a waste are missing the point of fashion, I think. It's not about intrinsic value. It's about creating an image, a look, a representation of a person. Pants are pants, jeans are jeans. The fit is what matters. And extra finishes do typically cost extra money, for the extra time. But in the jeans world, the price of pretty near all of them has gone way up in the last years. Why? Because 1. People will pay it (I don't buy them for the name though), 2. Those distinct pocket markings setting them apart, one brand to another. 3. The fits really do vary a lot, and the washes and soft denims are worth more money, if we're really being fair. Comfort is worth paying more for. Some jeans, no matter how many years or times you wear them, will never break down and become soft. The denim is just not that type. I hate stiff, thick denim. Higher cost of materials + more time manufacturing = more value. Rips don't make them halfway to the trash. If anything, I'd expect them to cost more because of the extra work involved, while not having them worn and saggy and stretched out, etc.
What I do think is overpriced is sportswear ('athleisurewear' - such a stupid marketing word, in my opinion.) Sneakers and logo'd items benefit the manufacturer/seller, yet some people are totally fine with emblazoning themselves as a walking billboard, because it gives them some cache, some marker that they are hip and in the know. It's a very 'new money', I got the cash, kind of advertisement. Sportswear is the only category to do this so brazenly.A friend here on gag, who has since left, sent me this look as his favourite everyday look for women in their 20s like he was. And I think he's right - she looks damn hot. She is both sexy and casual; the kind of girl who is not high-maintenance, and will go anywhere with you in your pick-up truck. Or Corvette. And she drinks beer and is up for anything. I think it's cool.
Personally I think yes..
Especially since they seem to think ripped jeans are worth more than intact jeans...
Why?
What kind of fashion trend would make people want to spend loads of money on jeans that have been ripped? Please give me a legitimate and sensible answer.I like ripped jeans for the badass effect but the ones that are already patched underneath
It really depends on the style and the size and amount of those rips. I do think non-ripped jeans are better but I do have one piece where they are frayed and ribbed very slightly and no complaints. I'm glad I bought, I really wanted them.
- pre-ripped pants that you didn't buy or get 2nd hand. are just a silly idea and waste of money.
- if my future partner wants ripped pants. I'll be happy to ripped them off her during foreplay/sex.
Oh my god yes. I don't even know what they signify.
- Hi, I just survived zombie Apocalypse!
- I'm Cinderella. Pity me.
- Woo hoo ! I got raped. Well almost.
in my opinion they are a waste of money. I would never pay the kind of money they want for jeans that are already wore out. If someone gave me some as a gift I would never wear them. Either give them back or return them.
I shop at salvation army a lot so yeah I have bought pre ripped jeans but I am not paying 75 dollars for them
I'm conflicted on this one. If you just want the worn look with holes at the knees buy a regular pair of jeans and wear them until they fall apart. If you want them ripped in an interesting and artistic way it's probably cheaper to buy one pre-ripped pair than to rip ten regular pairs trying to get them to look right.
I say no because I’ve never seen any company charging EXTRA for the rips. So, what is being wasted? You’re paying the same amount you’d pay for I ripped jeans but they’re in a different style. If you like that style, what is being lost?
if their like under 10 dollars no. i can make my own..
See i think it dumb to buy jean ripped up and stained.
You earn jeans like that by busting your ass with hard workI've never owned any, but I'm not a fan of ones that are ripped to the point you can see the skin.
The other ones are fine, but I generally stick to basic.NO, they are very cool. Moust of the good one are made in that way in a certain way.
Are some shops that they just ripped them and put them to sell >thous are shits.
I had a pair in hightschool, all teacher hate them, all girls love them.if you need to ask, then you don't understand the concept or the statement, kid.
It's like asking "the point" of buying a Ferrari or Bugatti when you can't drive it top speed on any public road.
All too high brow for you.Yes. Go to Goodwill, get a pair of scissors, wash twice.. Done!
I buy them that way because I have to buy jeggings and those SUCK to try to rip on your own 😒
I rather buy ripped jeans than make em. They are cute for girls to wear.
Do parkour, it's just reckless enough & controllable that one may tear their jeans without risking their jimmies. I recommend skinny jeans with 1% elastin if ballroom jeans are too expensive.
No. They’re strategically ripped in all the right places.
