Why not? They're just as comfortable/functional as unripped jeans and fit certain aesthetics. And realistically, they don't actually wear out that much faster in my experience because the places artificial rips are placed are not in the places that the material naturally wears.

Same cost, same function, different appearance, I don't see the problem.

They in fact WILL wear out faster.

I mean, I buy cheap clothes to begin with, broke college student here, so maybe if you're paying hundreds of dollars for a pair of pants then the tears might worsen faster than the buttonhole, pocket corners, etc. But that's really never been a concern because my stuff tends to wear out pretty quickly anyway. You should also consider the fact that distressed clothing tends to be the trend of the younger generations and whether it's because you're a kid and still growing or because you're buying into fast fashion, the fact of the matter is that your clothes just aren't going to last you as long.

But even if they do, I'd rather have a pair of ripped jeans that fit but will wear out faster than a pair of unripped jeans that don't fit as well and will wear out slower (and yes this has been a decision I've made on some shopping trips). If it fits it fits, what can I say?

I don’t buy them. They are ripped in a way that I don’t like, yet they cost more.
I buy regular jeans in Uniqlo in cheaper prices and eventually they will ripped naturally Lol

Seems that Fashion is everything. I have some jeans that are simply WORN OUT, with holes in the knees, and some woman commented that I was 'right in style' or words to that effect. I told her "not by design' ... these are simply worn out!!!

It's always the unclassy women that wear such jeans, I avoid them big time.

I don't like pants, especially jeans, so these aren't something I'd every buy. Frankly, they look silly.

Probably the same reason you buy some things that are not exactly necessary 😝

I have not bought ripped jeans for a long time now, but I have some from years ago.

I have a garage full of Milwaukee cordless tools and half of them have been in boxes for over a year! Just have to have them. What a cordless drill costs, could probably buy you 5 or 6 pairs of pants.

@Slingblade1126 Seriously? Did you buy them or sticky finger lift them? They're a decent price after all for thieves and in some areas of the USA people are more than happy to steal others tools.

Not sure, but jeans without the rips seem to appear more clean-cut and less like me.

Because women think it's "Fashion". They think crop tops is "fashion" too but, to me, just looks like they shrunk their shirt in the wash.

I know. We have relatives that wear ripped jeans. I has a couple of pairs of jeans that the knees finally wore out and my wife will not let me wear them in public. I point to our rich relatives that wear them,.

Sorry, but I wouldn't pay $20.00 plus for a pair of jeans and I look great in them, but that's just how I feel about them and have them ripped makes no sense !!!

I don't. I prefer Armani, when they start to fade I take rubber bands, soak them in a bleach mixture & tyedye them for casual.

I don't pay good money for 'distressed' jeans, those that do are fashion victims who have more money than sense and are paying over the odds for damage goods.

Sometimes the stylization of the ripping would be tough to replicate and I don't necessarily have the time to do it myself.

"We buy on emotion and justify on logic"

Just food for thought, maybe certain people go with a distressed look because they think subliminally men seek out vulnerable women?

Who knows though, maybe they just like the look?
