Salwar Kameez And Churidar is today one of the most commonly worn female dress among the traditional dresses in India. The outfit consists of pajama-like trousers called salwar, which is made tight at the waist and ankles. A kameez, which is a long and loose-fitting dress, is worn over the salwar.
Saree is India's one of the most popular and widely used traditional attires. The beauty and elegance of Indian women can be best revealed in saree. This is the reason you can find this attire in every Indian household, from grandma's shelves to granddaughter's wardrobes. It is not an outfit or fashion wear but an ornament, lending both grace and glamour to the women. The saree epitomizes the continuity of an age-old tradition and has emerged today as a visible symbol of the resiliency, continuity and timelessness of the Indian way of life. There are different types of sarees available in the markets that definitely do justice to the beauty of Indian girls. Most popular names are Chiffon Saree. (Chiffon is a filmy saree and all young ladies love to wear them to get a ravishing look.), Handloom Saree. Silk Saree, Banarasi Sarees, South Indian cotton Sarees, Printed Saree – particularly from Bombay and Surat mills.
I love saree but I wear occasionally – not daily. I wear them on all our social and religious functions. I love the way it wraps around my body. I take small steps and keep my pleats proper, whenever I dress in saree. I sometimes play with my pallu to indicate my feeling for my husband or express my anxiety. I feel saree is the most dynamic dress, I look stylish in that dress as well as conservative. But for everyday – I prefer Punjabi suit – Salwar Kameez or Churidar Kameez – Chudidar is a verson of Salwar. I happily wear western outfits too and have a classic collection of them. I was wearing them during my university studies almost every day. I usually do not them at home, and in presence of my grandmother, she has never objected them, but I pay respect her by not wearing them in her presence.
Many women now a day’s thinks. carrying saree for day to day work is uncomfortable, and I am one in that group. It is true for most of us, but not for all. My mother, mother in law and house maid always wears saree and does all household works without any difficulty. I never ask a woman to justify what she wears.
I do like and love them but only on days with no wind.
I'm not sure I fully understand the difference between the two. This is my take:
Saree - long length of cloth wound around the body
Suite - lengths of cloth sewn together to cover the body
Both women in the pictures look very nice, very feminine.
Both are beautiful. Like many are saying the saree may be traditional and looks very elegant. The suit seems like it’s possibly more comfortable and casual. Not being a female or from that culture, I do think the Saree is my favorite. Hope this helps.

I think they look good. Anyone who has an issue with my opinion on this….”saree I’m not saree”
I love them so much they are so pretty and attractive / colorful and feminine !
I’m also European not Indian at all and I love them !
I haven't tried any of them so I don't know. Most likely I will go for suits.
Good choice @Apulu_3 Suits/shirt-shalwar/salwar-kamiz/churidar etc are very comfy,
and they're worn just like a top n jeans...
The shalwar is the part like jeans, a lot like very thin loose baggy jeans... and the kamiz/shirt is like a long dress like top with slits on the sides from waist down
The sarees require more experience & skill to be worn
@Satyromaniac Yes
Both of them are amazing.
But I like sarees more than suites.
They are a bit difficult to wear, but the result is always amazing.
I think the girl who is wearing the saree looks sexier the suites on the other hand looks ugly and reminds me of one of the nurse uniforms. I definitely prefer the saree!
Saree can make woman look the way she wants.
Whether she wants to look like traditional wear, as sexy outfit or an office wear etc. It gives different charm.
No. Sarees look like you're poor, and wearing a bed runner.
i think they look nice but in a western cultural context, they seem a bit goofy.
I don't care much for the actual garment, but if a woman makes it look good, all power to her !!
I like with revealing tiny bikini blouse, as my girlfriend and her mom wear.
Yes, but they look the best on the floor near the bed.
I prefer girls in sarees luv, they look very beautiful in it but I think suits are more comfortable for them.
Saarees, Anytime. There's something graceful and exciting about it.
@gwenhwyfar Do you like to dress something like the first one?
I’ve never worn a sari I’m more of a sundress girl but that’s gorgeous
I agree!
First one looks awesome but i love the colors on the 2nd one
Love both. It depends on how she's able to carry herself in either of the dresses she's in.
Sarees look better on a woman just my opinion but I like it when a woman shows some skin.
Both are beautiful dresses, according to the culture and location
Yeah saris. My mom doesn't like them 'cuz she thinks their primitive, but I think they're lovely
Both are elegant but sarees are more graceful.
I’d prefer the former picture.
Yes I do, because they're always so colourful.
Yeah some look really lovley
I prefer wearing dresses
Like both both are beautiful
Whatever that first one is I LOVE! 😁
Definitely the sarees but both are beautiful.
Those are both very pretty
I prefer curtains when they are at the window.
both depends on my mood and the occasion
I always thought they were really cute.
Sarees are pretty hot.
I'm not from India, but they look great.
Saree makes one more sexy
no, Indian women do nothing for me
Don’t those cultures want women covered?
They're so beautiful
I would say Saree..
Girls in sarees are my love🥰
They are pretty, so yeah
I personally love Saree..
Saari is perfect on a woman ❤️👍
I like suits. How about you?
The first one.
I like them both
No I'm white lol
I love the Sareers.
Both really
They're both very feminine and look amazing on women of any age & size coz they have to be tailored to fit... You can't buy them readymade, unlike jeans&tops they don't come in fixed sizes like XS, S, M, L, XL etc
@Satyromaniac You can buy them ready made. For Saree there are less chances of getting it ready made but suits are mostly ready made and you can get them in any clothing store of India. Suits come in different sizes just like jeans and shirts and all.
Apulu_3 Oh, thnx 4 letting me know, the last time I gifted 1 to an ex was way back in 2009... And she had explained to me this way... Things do easily changed in a decade
@Satyromaniac That time also it was ready made I think but people didn't preferred that. As much as I know most of the suits my mom have are ready made.
I don't know about others, but that ex of mine was particularly keen on having them tailored exactly to her size & always had amazing ideas related to designs/cuts/layers etc to make that dress look outstanding and she really had a great taste in clothing.
@Satyromaniac Yes. Those which aren't ready made cut be designed by our own preference
I liked the 1st one
Nope
