Wearing hats indoors: what are your thoughts?

In the Midwest it's pretty common to see people wearing baseball caps and cowboy hats in restaurants, shopping malls, etc. I've grown pretty numb to it. Some people even wear them at visitations and funerals without ever taking them off, even during prayers.
What are your thoughts?

For me any blue collar joint I'll wear a hat. We went to Ikea yesterday and I didn't bother removing my hat. The day before we were at a sizzler, again didn't bother. If I go to a white collar place I'll dress up nice. I can't say I use my hate to hide my bad hair days because I shave my hair down to a 2 now. I also don't hide wearing a cross either despite living in a densely secular and Buddhist population now. No one cares though. People here are generally respectful if/when you interact with them.

what can I say being from Texas... I've seen people with their hats on while IN their trucks, at a funeral, indoors... lmao (horses too)

Same here. With some people it's like hats are permanently glued to their heads. Even on airplanes, some guy has to leave his 20X beaver cowboy hat on for the whole flight. For funerals I leave it up to the families on things like headgear, masks, photography, etc.

reminded me of going to the house of my best friend for the first time... it was a family gathering... right at the gates of the property I met the father of my best friend and the moment he saw me and he had this look on his face like " really? " while looking at my friend

those were a lot of hats and boots in there... so for many of them I was pretty much Marilyn Manson crashing into their family gathering

I keep my hat on in my truck but if I go into a store or the gym I take off my hat.

I lived with my grandmother quite a bit growing up. She made it a strict point that you take your hat off indoors. Malls & stores are a little different. But you take your hat off for prayers even at graveside services. It's simply showing respect.

not a big deal but i suppose to some it can seem... un-wieldly or cumbersome to wear indoors.

normally the only hats i see worn indoors are beanie's

I wear my baseball cap anyplace I want. I have my reasons and the people I know understands.

I grew up when you always removed your hat when you were indoors. I still do this out of habit.

What possible harm can hats do? Shoes I can understand- you risk tracking dirt everywhere. But when has a hat hurt anyone or anything?

depends on the place like a fast food place i'll keep it on, at Church I remove it during service.
