I really don’t think so. Body positivity comes in all shapes and forms. If she has altered herself to look the way SHE wants, shouldn’t we accept that as her own version of body positivity? If she loves the way she looks, then why does it even matter? Everyone has different journeys to reach their body goals and most of them come with eating disorders and body dysmorphia.
Most people don’t talk about it so we have this idea that those who don’t talk about it must’ve had a perfect clean journey in reaching their fitness goals. Sure she’s had surgeries, but she also works out daily. She eats clean. But anyone with a 10/10 body DEFINITELY has body image issues, otherwise they wouldn’t work so hard to reach perfection. We’ve gotten to a point where people go to the gym and eat a certain way to look good, not purely for health.
She looks hot, let her be. At least she’s not obese or skin and bone. It’s a magazine cover for a swimsuit edition😭 questioning the legitimacy of her body being shown as positive is not reinforcing body positivity, but the opposite.
Putting someone in a sports magazine who has promoted crash dieting and starvation and whos body is cosmetically adjusted to be the way it is... It's just ridiculous. All because she "kept going every time she was knocked down" which has absolutely nothing to do with her fitness journey.
How? It isn't like she is a real everyday person. None of them are. They are folks who get rich off of being famous. And I will never understand the obsession with them.
They have a right to do whatever procedures they wish. But if women want role models who have realistic lives and issues, they need to look elsewhere.
Not really. Just about everything Kim Kardashian has is fake, she's not an athlete of any kind, and she never had to work hard at anything. If SI wants to go this route, they might as well have porn star Hitomi Tanaka on the cover. At least everything she has is real, and she at least jogs and does karate.

I think that in some regards we have let things like that go too far... Sure, a person shouldn't be skin and bones, that's unhealthy, but we should also not support obesity just because we are going to hurt someone's feelings...
My girlfriend and I made a deal one day, if the other thinks WE need to go to the gym, WE will. That person will just simply say "I think WE should start working out again"... We know we get lazy about things, but I want her healthy so she can be at my side for decades to come, and vice versa... It's hard to fulfill your obligations as a SO to be there for your partner if you have a massive coronary.
The reason I say it's been taken too far is because you'll get cancelled if you ever mention someone being at an unhealthy weight. I can't support obesity when a person is able to do something about it to help themselves.

Nope, because she's not even positive about her own body. she's had surgeries, bunch of makeup, specific lighting, etc. All to make herself "perfect". Unfortunately many femalea feel they have to change themselves in order to be "perfect" and its damn sad.
Many people get plastic surgery, also body positivity isn’t always a good this supposedly Tess Holliday is anorexic and she is 500 pounds Tess holiday should not be positive about her body she should be ashamed about her body because she is a fat and incredibly unhealthy and will die at a young age
I agree the “body positive” movement seems to be purist which is anathema to their message. It should be be happy with yourself, and don’t be fooled by magazine covers.
This is true but I don’t want people to think being massively over weight is healthy. I get being comfortable in your own skin but there are healthy choices that can be made to make sure your not incredibly over weight. Unless your the Big Snow form WWE being 500 pounds normally isn’t a good thing.
(The Big show is 7 foot so an inch shorter then Shaquille O’Neal both are superb athletes given there size they should be 400-500 pounds most women don’t get that hight at all so Most women should be over 200 simply because it’s not healthy normally)
Bodypositivity today is all about women sugarcoating being fat, lazy and blaming society for their unhealthy lifestyles rather than get out there and actually put in the effort to look and be healthy. Hence why Adele got FLAMED for choosing to lose weight. Kim Kardashian is full of plastic, but because she isn't fat, then that makes her the enemy of todays "body positivity". I also don't think there is anything positive of being full of plastic.
Kim Kardashian has done nothing but harm for young women and girls the country over. She's helped create an even more superficial pop culture society and her legacy will be one of further degrading the general perceptions and relationships between the sexes. Terrible role model!

KK is neither an athlete nor natural. SI caved in for profits, social media and populism. SI is just one more piece of pop culture, fluff crap, which just reinforces why I stopped buying the magazine years ago.
Lets hope so, body positivity is encouraging people to be unhealthy. To the extent we are FORCED by the state to finance other people's healthcare this is an attack upon all of us.

i'm all for body positivity. positivity towards a healthy body in particular. meaning "not fat". but also meaning "not fake ass bodies full of silicone and botox".
@hahahmm It call comes down to dollars and cents in the end. If putting Bruce Jenner on the cover will generate more revenue, they will do so. But if doing so causes a drop in revenue they will put someone like Kim K on the cover to make up for the revenue they lost on the Bruce Jenner cover.
If it's only about money then they should put football players and coaches on the cover and sports analysis inside the pages. I'm guessing they also have an agenda that goes along with what they put on the cover but I won't claim to understand all of their reasons. It's like the twitter engineer who recently got caught on video saying twitter workers are all commies and they actively block conservative voices but in public Twitter would never admit that.
@hahahmm The Swim Suit issue is targeted to a wider audience. It's something that people who are not even into spots will buy. Also it can get people to start reading SI that didn't before. So it's like a comic series releasing a bonus issue or a restaurant having a item on the menu for a limited time. The revenue for such things is bonus revenue and it can help the business gain new regular customers.
Bonus? As I understand it SI Swimsuit stuff was on life support as recently as 2021 and many people said it should be killed off. They're trying to dig out of a deep hole. Like somebody trying to sell newly made 1920s style car engines to working people. ha ha.
@hahahmm Well then putting Jenner on the over was probably them needing a quick injection of funds. Because there higher up's probably thought they can capitalize on the press she was getting at that point. It also bought them some good will press.
Though I didn't really have an issue with it. Because I was apathetic to the entire thing. At the time I was writing new music and restoring a vintage fuzz pedal for my guitar. That and lets be honest if given the choice between a Swim Suit issue and free porn. Most guys are going to be watching free porn on the internet.
Of course (most) guys don't care about SI swimsuit. My point is that there can be multiple reasons why things happen. I used to believe in coincidences. Not anymore.
@hahahmm There can be more then one reason for a company doing something. That is something that I won't deny. But the main reason is to make money and the same thing goes for charities as well. I think that sometimes think all the money a business take in is pure profit. Also people seem think that all the donations a charity take in go straight to that charities goal. When the reality is that both have a cost of operations that need to be covered first. So a business only turns a profit after their operational needs are covered. The same very much goes for a charity. A charity can only put donations towards their goal after their operational cost is covered.
