+1 yWhat has you so frustrated with your hair? Is it your current hairstyle or is it the condition your hair is in?
I would generally suggest to try to work your way through it, but on the other hand there's nothing to say you can't. Perhaps a fresh start would be a good thing? I don't know. If it means anything, I have never looked at women with a shaved head any differently.
But is there anything else you could do instead? If you do shave it off, you might regret it and really miss having your hair. Depending on your hair length and how fast your hair grows, it could take as much as 1-2 years or even more for it to grow back, so it is a bit of a commitment if you do shave it off, and if you do, you'd also have to consider doing several different hairstyles at different stages as it grows back too. Just something to consider anyway.16 Reply- +1 y

+1 yI’ve been shaving my head for decades. Since long before it became kool. It’s literally the only trend i’ve been on the leading edge of in my entire life! Ell oh ell!
The first time is intimidating. If you’ve never buzz cut your hair or shaved before, you don’t know exactly what your head looks like. That’s scary because there are heads that definitely shouldn’t be bald! Ell oh ell! I got lucky and i’ve never looked back. I haven’t had hair since and i don’t miss it. But not everyone shares my experience. I recommend buying a wig and keeping the receipt the first time you consider buzzing or shaving. Ell oh ell!11 Reply
413 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I was working as a teachers aid, and ended up cutting my hair really short once because it was just damaged and needed to go, and the next day I came into the classroom, all of the students literally came up to me and said I looked like a boy and since they are kids with no filters, they kept telling me that and that they missed my long hair. I tried not to let it get to me...because they're kids...but it did and I have NEVER cut my hair short again nor would I ever shave my hair bald.

+1 yI did it when I was 19. I had my hair to my lower back (ass) for 5 years and just didn't like to remember my ex's fingers going through it every time I brushed.
It was self-harm.
I was kinda lucky my husband didn't mind short hair on women.34 Reply- +1 y

No, I don't think I would be able to pull off this look, or it would be flattering on me. I don't even like short hair or pixie cuts, I prefer medium or long hair. But everyone is different

+1 yI started going bald in my twenties. I shaved my head in my mid thirties. After leaving the barber shop, I went to Hooters for lunch. Several waitresses were rubbing my head and making wishes. If I’d known that would be the reaction, I would have done it ten years earlier.

+1 yI never wanted to shave it all off but I did sometimes want to trim it down to the neckline because I find just by reducing my hair by 3-5 inches I can cut the time it takes to wash and comb my hair by up to 80%.

Maybe try a bald filter on snapchat or tiktok before you go through with it.
As for me.. I don't like myself with a shaved head. Lol11 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I've never felt that way. I love having long hair awhile back ago I cut it to my shoulders and that is pretty short for me. Can't wait till it grows back out

+1 yGood lord NO!
Girl, get you butt to the stylist of your choice, and get ur hair fixed. You will never forgive yourself! There’s a girl on campus I don’t “know her“ but she’s always been very friendly and she’s in a couple of my classes. Anyway she was at a party drank WAY too much and as a prank someone shaved her head! She literally tried to kill herself! Not because she was sexually assaulted or anything like that because she wasn’t… Just because they shaved her head! Don’t do it
011 Reply- +1 y
I don’t know, I haven’t seen her this semester. Sometimes I think that I made a mistake buying a house and living off campus. I’m really missing out on the whole college experience. I’ve been thinking of having all my stuff shipped home, and getting a place in the dorms, but then I hang out w/ someone in the dorms, and realize how incredibly cramped it is in there! Plus my best friend and roommate would physically physically kill me if after begging her to commit to 4yrs of renting from me so we could live together, I just up and moved out! But there MUST be something you can do other than shave your head?
- +1 y
If you don’t mind, I’m gonna talk to you like I talk to my friends, ok?
Bitch, are you out of your mind? We ALL struggle w/ our hair! Have you got any idea the number of times I’ve spent over an hour doing my hair, only to realize it’s a loosing battle, and re-wash my hair to remove all the product and start again? We ALL have issues w/ hair! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at myself, looked at the NEW deep conditioning product I just spent $150.00 on and been like “shinier, extra-body, and softer hair my ass! You LIARS!!!” And toss it in the trash? (I always get it back out, but thats not the issue. @menina, seriously, no matter what the issue, it’s GOT to be better tan being friggin bald! Just don’t! I don’t even know you and I think thats a terrible idea.
(by the way that girl never came back after the summer, so she either transferred somewhere, or just dropped out… over a shaved head!) - +1 y
That’s why I prefaced with “the way I talk with my friends” I can’t stand being called b***h either, I hate it! But just as African Americans have reclaimed the “N” word and use it only w/ other African Americans with whom they are friendly. The “B” word has generally been reclaimed my girls of my generation. It’s not just localized to where I’m from either, here at college, girls from all over the country use it in exactly the same context. While WE may use it among friends, guys most definitely may NOT use it. It is a way of taking back a word that was used to belittle women, minimize women, and dismiss assertive women. By reclaiming the word, women are able to remove it’s “power” that men have used as a tool of the patriarchy, against us! Obviously I would not be disrespectful, and use that word again with you, given your specific request. However, I wanted you to know (more than just “oh I meant it in a good way”) that there was absolutely no negative intent. 😢
- +1 y
@menina I don’t know why a stylist is not an option for you, but a lot of girls I know (with unmanageable hair) are getting keratin treatments! It used to be strictly for straightening hair, but as it also leaves hair soft, silky, and manageable, girls with straight but unmanageable hair are getting a sorta “keratin light” if you will, and their hair is absolutely gorgeous after! Also, a flat iron can work miracles, even on straight hair! Seriously when all else fails, I use my flat iron to just outright “fix” my hair. I found one that looks good, here www.amazon.com/.../ref=sr_1_10 Unless you have very long hair, this may not be the best, and you’ll need to get a thinner one, but I wanted to help, and this is a good starting point, and it’s cheap. But seriously, if you don’t have very long hair, you would probably prefer something thinner. Just search “flat iron”. Hey, if it doesn’t work for you, you can always just send it back to Amazon. Good luck Menina! 😘💋

You are very welcome, it was my pleasure to help you in any way. (Even if I didn’t really help at all). I am curious though… Where do you live that Amazon. com cannot deliver to you? They use UPS, FedEx, and the world wide mail systems. As an example, I saw a documentary about the International Space Station, and one of the astronauts interviewed was previously stationed on an arctic research station near the North Pole, and when asked about things he missed he said getting things delivered from Amazon, b/c when he was at the North Pole he would somewhat regularly receive deliveries, but Amazon just has not yet figured out how to deliver to the ISS. Lol 😂
Anyway, take care and best of luck with all you do going forward, Laura. 🤗 - +1 y
You tried to help me and that's what matters. You didn't know how I was going to reply, so you tried your best. Like I said before, I really appreciate your comments.
Well, I could order something from Amazon, but it would have to be Amazon in Spain because it's the closest country.
Hahaha thanks for sharing this story, maybe they will get there someday Lol
Thank you, Laura, for being so supportive! Best of luck to you. :)

I love running my hand over my head feels like a baby chick and it’s very relaxing feeling the wind etc but then I miss my hair and I wear wigs thrn I get tired of that and I shave again
Honestly without the option of wigs I don't know if I’d have the enthusiasm for it. I don’t think I could commit bc it takes me a year to get my hair back to mid back. I had to shave a few years ago bc of an incident that’s when i discovered I liked it but also wigs. I oscillate between the two. - +1 y
@menina For whatever it's worth, I can vouch for how good it does feel to run your hand across very short hair. I have shaved my hair very short for years now and even now it's still addictive. lol And like @VIVANT said, it can feel very relaxing. Anyway, I'm not trying to sway your decision one way or another, but it does legit feel good to run your hand over it. 😊

As an aside I spent spied a ton on wigs. I don't know if you get your hair cut but you can get synthetic wigs for the price if Amit hot haircut and they will last at least among with proper care. Also hats I have gotten super into hats when I don’t feel like having anything major on my head but don’t want to be completely exposed in sun etc. I love all the diff kinds of hats there are i just never thought of hats before and very cheap as you never need to throw them out 😊
