i got my first real makeup at 9. didn't use it much at all until 15
for advice,
skin makeup: take good care of your skin and make sure to exfoliate once a week (you need a good base for your makeup to look good and not cakey and textured). always put moisturizer before any makeup, and wait a couple minutes for it to be absorbed. if you have good skin but want to perfect it or just have a couple little blemishes, use concealer and not foundation (concealer only goes on little blemishes and around the eyes usually, dont latter it all over your face its not ment for that, that's the role of foundation) or bb creams, cc creams or sheer or light foundation (the less skin makeup you can pile on the more natural, better and smoother it will look). if you have bad skin you'll need more coverage like medium or high coverage foundation and potential concealer too. when you use concealer and foundation it doesn't matter the order but wait a little bit in between. the only time where you for sure need to apply concealer before is if your using colour correct concealer (normal concealer is flesh toned but it might be harder to cover certain blemishes especially without overdoing the product. if you have redness and lots of acne it can be better to use green concealer. if you have dark undereyes, peach concealer). foundation should be as close as possible to your actual skintone, concealer needs to be one shade lighter than your skin. dont use your fingers to apply foundation, you can do it for concealer though. get a foundation/concealer brush or a beauty blender to apply stuff (make sure to clean them regularely or else it will affect how your makeup looks). blend the makeup well into your neck. when your done applying your makeup, you need to use fixing powder or finishing powder and a fixing spray (best to do this when all your makeup is done, cos you need to fix in place your eye makeup, lips etc) make sure to let your makeup dry like 5m or more before you do that though. light blot your makeup after a couple hours if it starts to show some shine from your skin oils, and use fixing spray every couple hours if your skin is oily. for blush, the non powder ones look more natural but powder last more and is easier to apply and blend without it messing up your makeup. usually you do blush after your done with concealer & foundation. aside from blush you could also contour (you can use that to make your nose slimmer, your face narrower, etc. though it takes some practice)
eye makeup: always apply it before skin makeup (you will make little mistakes when you do it and will have falling powder or accidently streaks of mascara and stuff like that would ruin your skin makeup or at least make it look less good if its already applied). always apply moisturizer on your eyelids before using shadow. only apply a couple coats of mascara or else very very quickly you'll end up with cakey spider lashes. in summer use waterproof mascara and eyeliner or else you could potentially look lowkey like a panda. if you use fake lashes, make sure to trim them (they're too long) and make the lash extention in itself shorter by cutting if it's too big for your eyes. use good quality eye makeup or else it can cause headaches and irritation as well as making your eyes water. also replace mascaras every 6 months, or you'll be using expired stuff (all makeup expires but it's especially imporant to avoid using exp eye makeup). for beginners fine tip eyeliner is the easiest to use as well as kohl. liquid eyeliner is the best for wings but it's hard to use if you're starting out. ideally use kohl for lash line and eyeliner for wings and inner corners. make sure to blend your eye shadow out so there's no stark demarcation. for a no makeup makeup look use dark brown mascara and eyeliner. for eyebrows, pencil and eyebrow mascara tends to be the most natural. ideally you want to go for a shade darker than your natural hair color for eyebrow stuff.
lips: always use lipbalm before you use lipstick and make sure in gen to keep them not chapped. if you want to make your lips bigger use a lip pencil, make sure its darker than the lipstick or other lip product your going to use and that's in a similar tone too. you'll want to overline your lips on top and on the bottom but make sure to stay very true to your lips for the corners or else it will look weird. then go over the lip pencil with your lipstick. in gen when you use lipstick dont apply too much product and ideally apply it with a small lip brush. bite into a tissue and make sure there's no lipstick in your teeth. dont do this with gloss though. use lip tint if you want something long lasting with little transfer that looks more natural
thank you so much for all the amazing advice ❤️☺️ i know it took a long to type it out so i really appreciate it ☺️
i wrote this down in my notebook earlier and i broke it down into 3 sections of skin makeup and eye makeup and lips ❤️
I started young because of ballet. Features disappear under stage lighting without makeup, so you have to cake it on in order to look natural onstage. Even the guys do it.
You don't need expensive makeup, just play with the drugstore brands for now, unless your skin breaks out. This is the time to have fun with it! You can always go to a department store or Ulta Beauty and ask them to do your makeup for you. Just say you've never done it and you want some help. They usually want you to buy their product, but you can just get the cheapest thing. Ask one of the technicians who has a look that you like.
For you, a soft brow pencil that compliments your natural hair color for your brows, a hint of mascara for the lashes, and layered, soft-colored lipstick/tinted lip gloss would highlight your features (without being too much). Take a midtone lipstick or tinted lip balm and softly line your lips, then use a blush stick that flatters your skin tone to fill it in and blend.
Think soft and fresh for colors, unless you just want to try something crazy and fun!
Take good care of your skin. Wash your face with a gentle soap (or even just warm water), moisturize (CeraVe is a good brand), wear sunscreen (Neutrogena Dry Touch is good). The oils from your hair will cause breakouts, so keep it clean and/or away from your face. Wash your pillowcase. If you keep your skin in good shape, you won't even need foundation.
When using mascara, here's a tip to keep it from clumping. Get something like L'Oreal Voluminous from a regular store. Lift your chin and look downward as you apply with one steady swipe. Then, rinse the mascara brush off (swirl it in a paper cup or something so you don't make a mess) and swipe again to remove any clumps. It is far more subtle and natural looking.
For taking off makeup, use a little bit of oil (olive oil is fine) to gently remove the mascara and any other products and then wash your face. The oil binds to the molecules of the makeup product and makes it slip off without hard scrubbing or causing microtears in your skin.
I'd recommend the book The Five-Minute Face by Carmindy. It's a great reference and she keeps things age appropriate and simple.
thank you for all the advice and tips 🥺☺️❤️ that was really kind and sweet and helpful ❤️ i’ll try going to a department store sometime and seeing if there’s a look i like and maybe ask for a makeup kit for my birthday ☺️
thanks for the advice about a skincare routine too ❤️ i use coconut oil sometimes after my friend Maya suggested it but other than that i don’t really know too much about skin care. i’ll try looking for the 5 minute face book too ☺️

@strawberrypancake The link is to the book and you can get it on Kindle. You can also request it through your local library for free. :) You're so sweet! You're welcome.
aw thanks so much! ☺️❤️ i’ll request it though my local library for sure ☺️ i go there almost every week with my dad for new books ❤️
@strawberrypancake That's perfect! Glad to help. :)
I first tried makeup when I was about 14, experimenting with lip gloss and a bit of mascara. It's fun to see how makeup can enhance your features, but it's all about feeling comfortable and confident in your skin. Start simple, maybe with tinted moisturizer or a bit of blush, and remember that beauty is about expressing yourself. Whether or not you wear makeup should be purely your choice, so enjoy discovering what makes you feel your best! 😊

I have tried it off and on since I was young. I usually don’t wear much at all tho
I'm much more into taking good care of my skin. Occassionaly I will wear very lightly applied eyeliner. I always wear lip gloss with vitamin e to keep lips conditioned and soft. I really enjoy flavored lip glosses like vanilla or citrus. Sometimes I use a tinted gloss. Anyway, I think the purpose of makeup is to enhance your natural looks, not change it. It seems a lot of women look so different with makeup on and makeup off. It's fun to experiment but, especially at your age, I would consider keeping it light. You'll ao pretty just the way you are, don't cover that up with heavy makeup. :)
thanks for being so kind ☺️ i’ll just try to take care of my skin as much as i can and not worry about makeup as much
@strawberrypancake oh but do have fun with it! Do take care of your skin bc you will be happy you did when you’re older. Now’s the time to practice and have fun with different looks. You go, girl!
aw thanks ❤️☺️ i’ll definitely start trying sometime and practice and hopefully have fun too ❤️ and i’ll try to find a good skin care routine too ❤️
I love this question. Great content.
There was one time when I had an ugly zit before… prom was it? I can’t recall. So she put makeup over it. That was sweet. That was the only time.
Unless you count nail polish. I prob did that a few times (it was always a girlfriend putting it on for me though).
Girls with makeup?I think some women slay with makeup. Like those douyin girls omg. I always had a thing for baddies, maybe that’s why my relationships don’t last.
However, as I got older, I started to prefer less makeup and more natural women. I have a huge crush on someone right now who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup. I admire everything about her. Too bad I’m too chicken to make a move. There’s too much on the line if she rejects me 🥲
aw thanks ☺️ i hope everything works out with your crush too ☺️
Thank you so much 😊
@ _Maya_ i got so caught up in the crush thing that i didn’t realize how strange this post reads 😂🤦♀️
i’ve never really seen a guy talk like that lol
@_Maya_ if they do that then that’s like talking to a robot instead of a human 🤦♀️ lol
@_Maya_ I don’t even know how to use ChatGPT
I think I was at my auntie's, she has lots of makeup and products, I was maybe 14, I don't remember, it was fun trying all the shades of colors on me. But then I don't really wear makeup, maybe once a month or even less
My advice, don't go extra, keep it simple, You're already beautiful and cute without makeup❤️, you don't need it tbh, and honestly, it's better to have a guy likes you when you look horrible than when you look pretty. Natural is always better than being faked by makeup.
Just do it for fun not for guys 😊
aw thanks 🥺☺️❤️ i just think it would be fun to try all the shades and colors and stuff ☺️ i’ll try to remember to keep it simple and just to do it for fun too ☺️ i do have a guy that’s my friend but we’re just friends ☺️
Bizarrely I wore it for a play while at university, I hasten to add I never put it on as we had a make up artist team (doing make up & special effects etc for their degrees).
I have dated girls who are pretty much goth or similar with some very lovely pronounced make up and also those who wore minimal. I’m happy with both.
The most important part of it all is skin care and making sure you start small and stop using at the smallest reaction to any make up or skin product.
oh wow that’s cool you wore it for a play! if i ever try any i’ll make sure to take care of my skin and start small too ☺️
lol…makin’ me smile…makin’ me laugh…oh snap! Sparkle!! Pop!!!
I had makeup on for the first time when I was like, 7 because I did dance and we had to wear stage makeup. I don’t wear makeup unless it is an event where makeup is expected. I don’t really like makeup, and my boyfriend doesn’t either. Women generally do not care whether guys like makeup or not because they don’t wear it for men
that makes sense i think ☺️ i kind of realized from the answers that it doesn’t really matter and i think i would just wear it for fun
I tried lipstick a few times and it just made my mouth feel greasy and I wasn't thrilled with having to taste it every time I ate or drank something.
I'm pretty sure I tried eye liner once or twice and wasn't very good at it.
I prefer them without. I like to know who I'm talking to and//or fucking. i don't mind if they use A LITTLE make-up. Lipstick, eyeliner, maybe rouge. But not when it's caked on so thick she can't smile for fear of breaking off a piece and then having to try to kick it under her seat before anyone notices it.
Some girls are naturally beautiful and although they might look more pretty with makeup, I still like them better without it.
I've never used makeup, although I have used my sister's concealer a few times to cover a shaving cut or a mark on my face if I'm heading to an important event.
The first makeup I wore was for my school play, I was 13 but I didn't start wearing it for any other reason until I was 16. You're beautiful without it, only wear it if it's what you want.
oh ok ☺️❤️ thanks for being so nice too 🥺❤️ i guess i was just curious about it but now i’ll wait until im a bit older
No problem, you're very welcome! Xx
I tried my mom’s lipstick 💄 when I was 4-5 years old. But some guys say I look better without makeup? So I really don’t have any advice, sorry 😞
oh that’s ok ☺️ the lipstick story sounds cute too lol
aw thanks ☺️ i try my best lol
I was 6 as older girls made makeup on my face. I tried my first one with 10 as I played with my mother's makeup set. With 13 was my makeup making skill relatively good so I tried to go out with makeup. Now I don't use makeup often and if, I mostly just increase contrast of my eyes, with kajal mascara and eye shadow
I've never tried on makeup that's rich people stuff, lol.
ikr! before this when i looked at the prices i was like “this stuff is that much?” 🤦♀️😂
XD it really do be like that let I'll grab some mud and make my own 𓁹‿𓁹 I shall be beautiful the mud Queen
😂😂 mudeline by the mud queen 😂
but really that’s when i realized i’m really fine the way i am after seeing that lol
It's like do I want to eat this month or do I want to consume makeup, lol.
right! 😂😭🤦♀️ i would have to babysit every single day to actually make that work lol
i still have to wait a while for a real job but i try to help my dad out with money since we’re not really the richest and it’s kind of tough sometimes
I work at 7-Eleven I'm trying to get it switched over to the day shift cuz I work 1:00 a. m. till 6:00 a. m. on weekends let me tell you those crackheads looking through the window they just waiting for me to drop my guard so they could steal everything
oh my gosh i hope you can get it switched soon! 🥺❤️😭 im so sorry that you have to deal with crazy people like that 😭
but stuff like that and just icky people is why i carry pepper spray and i just have to be looking around all the time 🤦♀️
plus i’m deaf and i just have to be aware in general of what’s going on
I am too actually I have a cochlear implant I'm surprised by that
oh that’s amazing! ❤️🥹❤️ i used to have hearing aids when i was younger but unfortunately they didn’t help much so i still use sign language and lip reading ❤️
there’s certain things you have to be qualified for i think for the surgery but i can’t remember what all of them were
Hearing aids for some stuff is like horrible like going to a concert oh God no or if there's multiple people talking it's so too much to handle
I use the Bluetooth function for my phone and my video games and that's it I don't actually use it in real life too often
oh gosh i can’t imagine all that ringing at a concert 😭 that would be terrible 🥺
that’s so cool that you can use it for your phone and video games tho! ❤️☺️ i read the other day that certain people can listen to music on their phone without anybody else hearing it! it’s like headphones but without wearing headphones ☺️
i do actually like going to heavy metal concerts with my dad because i can hear the vibrations from the speakers and still have a good time 😂❤️
Indeed the perfect way to get hit by a vehicle walking down the street lol
oh my gosh 😭😂 crossing streets is always so scary 😭 i always triple check both sides because once i start walking i’m never going to hear anything coming 😭
That's the fun part am I going to get hit by a bus or a Mini Cooper who knows
😂😭 i feel so bad for laughing 😂🤦♀️
XD lol that's what people don't realize is like we make horrible jokes and then people try to play Hero or whatever
😂❤️ exactly! you have to make jokes sometimes because life is so serious and stuff ☺️
Indeed 😸
I started trying it around 12 or 13, my mom mostly gave me the old stuff she didn’t need or use anymore. I’ve gotten better with practice but I got my first advice from my mom and the remaining advice for specific looks from youtube
Makeup is mostly for unattractive girls. It would be like a man having lifts in his shoes to make him appear taller, and having fake pads under his shirt sleeves to make it appear that he has bigger muscles. Both situations amount to a person being deceptive to others in my opinion.
I was 6 years old and it was girl time with me and my mom. Good times. Go with colors that lift your natural colors.
I started experimenting with it at the age of 8.
Less is better. You don't need any and won't for many years.
As unknown gender identity I will answer both
Age 7 or I don't know very young (it made me such a clown)
I hate girls with make up a lot these are toxic nasty colours put on their faces making them lose their nature beauty and harm their face as well for the purpose of toxic attention seeking or so on against this one!
I started around my late 20's. I'd say less is more honestly especially when you're young and overall.
Girls without makeup is best because it shows off natural beauty.
Moderately made-up women, and my name is "Brady," not "Brandy!!!" (Imagine someone called "Cowboy" wearing makeup !!!)
I stay completely natural and don't use anything. I would prefer a girl without makeup.
Fake up is astoundingly unappealing
You don't need to use make up
