Whatever you wear will probably look very elegant and stylish compared to the norm here. We tend to be more casual than we should be, and I'd say you'll stand out more if you dress too nice, especially if you'll be doing anything active. Shorts and t shirts with sneakers are pretty common here, sundresses with sandals or huaraches are great. Capris are back in fashion, so you'll be fine with those. I'm personally a fan of the wide leg billowy pants with a waist length t-shirt. So comfortable!

Just make sure you have some kind of cardigan or light jacket to throw over you if you go into air conditioned spaces (which you will likely spend a lot of time in). It's hot outside, but it can be chilly in the buildings. And bring comfortable flats, something you can live in. A cute, packable hat is nice, and some sunglasses.

USA is a big land. What state you're going? Maybe what city be specifically. You know weather could be very different depends on the area. But overall in summer, short sleeves top, some jeans pants and one or two light jackets would do, summer dresses are also good idea.

I am in north Florida. In the summer, the high temperatures are in the 90's F (32-37 C) and the humidity can be quite high. Today, the forecast is high temp of 37 C and humidity of 87%. You want clothes that are cotton, light weight, light colors, and breathable. Sundresses are comfortable for most ladies.
