Is it okay to give my old clothes to friends?

I’m from a richer family. My clothes while nice, were starting to look slightly worn. I replaced them with new clothes. My friend is poor and needs but can’t afford new clothes, so I thought I might wash and dry the old clothes and then gift them to her for free.
