What kind of makeup do guys prefer on women?

Question

I know everyone has a preference, but generally speaking things like blush, mascara, foundation, lipstick, etc?

Personally I go light on makeup, not too heavy and just adds a tiny bit of glow to my skin, but I’ve also heard guys don’t like makeup that much… so do you think it’s pretty or cute?

I don't know why, but for some reason I got upset reading guys' opinion being harsh on women wearing makeup and claiming that all women look ugly with it.. I can't fathom why they're so heavily prejudiced against it... I guarantee you, these are the same people that would advise me to experiment with makeup, if I appeared with my dark under-eye circles sans concealer and pale lips (I have anemia and iron deficiency, so lipstick and concealer alone make a drastic difference in my appearance). Also, makeup can serve as a form of artistic expression and creative outlet for some women, especially bodypainting, but that's another story.

I think most of these guys don't understand makeup and they associate it with very heavy one, dark eyeliner, red lipstick, raccoon smokey eyes, obvious rouge apples or some sexist guys might view it as a way to communicate sexual availability and promiscuity, or they mean it as a compliment... That's my own theory here... Anyway the kind of makeup they're referring to, is natural makeup (nude or light lipstick, balm, or chapstick in a mlbb shade, a light coat mascara to enhance your eyelashes, under-eye concealer and tinted bb cream or lightweight foundation) used sparingly to enhance one's features without being noticeable, which requires to have a good technique to be able to pull that look off correctly

I guarantee that most guys prefer makeup even if they think they don't. What those guys don't like is obvious makeup. But they will often see a girl who is actually wearing make up and not realize it.

Make up is magic if done right. The trick is for it to be unnoticeable. The "no makeup" makeup look.
It makes a woman look fresh and, yes, glowing.

It totally makes sense to cover shadows and add subtle highlights. Mascara and even realistic-looking fake eye lashes, along with very subtle eye liner and eye brow brush, look great. Natural color lipstick makes her lips look tender.

What's horrible is fake-looking eye lashes, too much eye liner, obvious eye shadow and blush. Gaudy lipstick can even be a turn off under many circumstances.

Makeup is designed to be more attractive to women. It wouldn't sell as well otherwise. Men typically have no clue how any of it works and once you see a woman with too much on, however subjective that is, none starts to look better. But that's not to say it doesn't look sexy when it fits the woman. I myself like a little eye liner sometimes for some reason. Think I spent too much time around goths while working in healthcare.

@kayla45 I actually posted two pictures of me with light makeup and one with no makeup. I took a survey.. Although there were exceptions, most of the guys said that I looked better with no makeup while most of the girls said that I looked better with a little makeup.

No makeup is fine. Light, tasteful makeup is fine. At the point you're troweling on the face paint and lipstick, it's a turn off. Basically a less is more approach is probably the right move in most cases.

Ideally, no makeup. If I'm going to be in along-term relationship with her, I want to know what she looks like when she wakes up next to me every morning.

Realistically, she can wear whatever makeup she wants, so long as she doesn't overdo it.

Okay I'm a girl but light make up or those sun kissed one is my go to.

However the heavy make up, the caked up one with creative colours, it's ART at that point, I hope I was good at it but women who are able to do that, DO THAT OFTEN, I WANT TO SEE ART MORE, DO IT WITH ALL THE UNIQUE COLOURS YOU GOT!

None. I hate the invention of makeup. Almost every girl nowadays looks like a clown and they do NOT listen to men saying that makeup looks ridiculous. They say they do it for themselves, but that's just nonsense.

I’ve heard most guys like lipstick but don’t really care about other kinds of makeup. And as for mascara, I really don’t think anyone cares how long a girls eyelashes are. Of course, I might say that from a position of privilege as someone who has really long lashes lol.

That highly depends on what kind of makeup guys prefer on women. Most men here think they prefer minimal or no makeup. But I do not have a prefence; if a girl or woman wants to experiment with something new or maybe do things differently, I would be all for it. I don't have a preference. If they have to try new things and maybe do specific things that they want to feel suitable for themselves and maybe others, I will not objectify that they should not because who am I to freaking judge?

I wear light makeup sometimes. I don't think I'm very pretty, and a bit of makeup makes me feel like I might look pretty. I never do heavy makeup like the crazy eyeliners and blushes, though.

It depends on the woman and the environment. Sone women look great with very little, but in the evening, at a dressy event, more makeup may be better.

personally makeup kinda turns me off, so something cool looking like eyeliner would circumvent this. I can say most of my guy friends agree with me that we see makeup like facepaint. Make it look cool, not like you're putting on a mask.
