Do most people lose interest in fashion as they get older and prioritize comfort?

I' personally am finding this to be the case with me. I find that as I get older, fewer clothes suit me and every five to ten years or so, my style changes. I also dress more for comfort than just for fashion these days. I just got rid of a beautiful evening dress and a beautiful tulle wedding dress which I bought in case I'd need them when a man proposed. Who I'll call *Cecil (not his real name, who'd be called Cecil these days)? lol. He was my long-distance boyfriend but we eventually decided because of the distance, just to be good friends instead. I looked at it and it struck me as being a younger woman's dress and I gradually lacked the desire to keep something I'd only wear once or wear something that formal anyway, finally deciding on a smart casual dress for the formal dinner out, doing it up with good pearls, makeup and glittery heels.
