I’m in my mid thirties and I recently saw all these gorgeous, fresh faced young people going out, not dressed up, like when we were young, but in the same clothes women my age wear. Yoga pants, track pants and hoodies. I don’t believe women my age or any other age ‘hit the wall;’ however, I think that it’s a shame to see young women dressed like older people. The younger men and women are so lovely and new looking; why not celebrate it?
I think as boomers retire, there is less emphasis on looking particular way. Changing your "look" is often a sign of the changing of the guard so to speak. People might be focused on quality of work rather than quality of workwear. My job does not require dressing up, although I do have a couple of collared shirts when I am doing an initial client consultation. For the actual work, I've been wearing the same workwear for a couple of decades.

Laziness and complacency. This notion of "Who do I have to impress?" has become far too pervasive. You can look nice and still be comfortable, so fear of losing one's sense of comfort is no excuse. It's just another sign that society is circling the drain.

I think probably because as our employers by and large care less about us, we care less about our employers. It's pretty rare to work somewhere now where your owner is going to be onsite with you, and that sense of responsibility kicks in.
I never even bothered getting my uniform at any chemical plant I worked at, and no one gave me grief about it as long as I had my steel toes and safety glasses.
The only jobs that I wore a suit to work for every night and cared about attire was working in clubs...
WHY? I'm sure there are a variety of reasons. I just know that they ARE, sadly.
Maybe they are so busy trying to earn a living that they don't have time to match clothes for an outfit. I think it's more that nobody really cares any more. Stores don't care, as long as you bring money to buy stuff. Many people don't care: (heck, why waste time dressing like you care).
Even in church, sockless feet in sandals, shorts, etc are the norm in summer. My wife even "dresses up" when she has to do video phone appointments with her clients! I'm sure that this COVID crap didn't help the situation, and people just got messier as a result.
I never really have gone out in yoga pants if i am not planning on doing yoga.. I mostly either wear something like short shorts, Jeans, a skirt or a dress.. I prefer skirts and dresses though being they are way more comfortable depending on the length.
I feel you. I love wearing a suit & tie. The world just feels different. Mind you, I didn’t even know how to wear a suit properly until 35 so it wasn’t even fun until then. Now, just give me an excuse to dress up!!
Causal & comfort are overrated.I believe they are dressing more casually because standards are dropping. I think men should go back to suits, and women can still wear women's suits, but maybe more dresses.
Of course. Until the sixties, men and women generally dressed as if they were coming home from the office;suits and ties, at least sports shirts for the boys;dresses and blouses for the girls. With the 60's non-conformist era, people began to dress more and more casually, and today look as if (in summer) they're at the beach.(Pretty awful, considering the fat broads wearing shorts, cellulite on their thighs bopping up and down as they walk.)
Hoodies are more 20's style, at less in my country. I think as dressing well is not learned at school, it makes sense that many people just dress properly, cleanly, without thinking about style, and it's ok.
I went to a few H. S. for work and kids were wear pajamas!! 🤣 and slippers. This is America's new fashion trend. Dress like you woke up.
Fast fashion and a dying economy. The average young person can't afford to buy nice clothes for everyday wear, even if they want to.
i feel like hoodie and sweatpants is ageless bc its comfy and cheap. people will always wear it lol
We live faster and faster, most of the time we can't bother with looking very nice on a daily basis
Shorts definitely need to go.
They are too lazy, stupid, ignorant of social grace... pick one.
im gen z have more important things to do than attract a mate
They're not. Common styles just change so old ones end up looking formal because they're not worn any more except to fancy events.
There's a lot of young women that don't even own a dress or skirt other then possibly a micro mini skirt.
Because it's a lot of work to impress people who don't matter.
Who needs to wear a suit & tie every waking moment?
I love wearing leggings they show off my butt. If I go out somewhere then i'll wear something like that, but on a day to day basis why would I? I want to be comfortable when being out
let's be honest: what's the point of a neck tie? Casual is where's it is
