Why did she get jealous if she has a boyfriend?

I was at the library studying for a test with this girl and one of her friends. She knows I like her but she has a boyfriend so I haven't really done anything about it yet. I was talking to her friend about another class that she's going to take that I've taken before and she asked to get my number. I was about to give her my number but then she was like "hey he's MY study partner!"

So we kind of left it at that and I never gave her friend my number. Why did she get jealous if she's already in a relationship?

Probably she was just joking with you and her friend, but it also can mean that she was jealous. She may like you a little bit. Girls tend to be a little greedy, so when a guy likes us, we just want them to look only at us, we need attention even if we don't correspond it. If she has a boyfriend and knows about your feelings, I'll stay away from her, unless you want to get hurt. Either way, I think like other people said I'll go for her tone of voice to see if she was just joking or in fact she was jealous.

It depends on her tone of voice honestly. If it was sharp and kinda sneering, she was jealous but if it was kinda fun and lighthearted it wasn't. You say that she knows that you like her. She probably has a bit of feelings for you and doesn't want her friend to have you. (Trust me it happens even if you are in a relationship) she probably does not care to see you with anyone that isn't her but she doesn't want to dump her boyfriend.
