Why is this cancerian man acting distance after I gave him a gift?

He always check me out and do this subtle flirt and always be around me when he gets a chance. I gave him some homemade food I cooked myself and he acted very excited and told me he would eat it later.

I saw him today he seem a bit shy and distance. He would still be around me but he is not as talkative and he even call me "hey friend" like he is putting on a show to show people that he is not interested in me? Why is he acting this way? could it because he didn't like my food?

Since he is being "cold" I back off a little and later he came and greet me with a smile like he is seeking my attention? What should I do the next time I see him?

It's not the food UNLESS he forgot to preserve it, had to throw it out (or lost it) and NOW in the awkward position of having to praise you for it, with NO details on how it tasted - afraid to fake such a a conversation & not man enough to own up to it, he retreats into shy boy land, hoping you'll forget to quiz him.

2. someone has teased him or fond concern that he's getting closer to you... often food gifts at work will bring out this in others and make either party feel on thin ice

3. next time you see him, tell him he owes you a sit down coffee chat but if he's broke, can go "Dutch"

1. talked to him today asked for honest opnion and not fishing for compliment as I was doing experiement to thosse thing sI gave him. He thanked me again and said they were all nice but can't remember the consistency of each of the things.

2. His freind probably has teased him but I did offer his freind a piece as well but he didn't take it. He probably is also worried about complains from other people about him being unprofessional by getting closer to me.

3. I would love to ask him for a coffee "date" but I'm too shy lol I need to work up the courage somehow!

Well Cancers are very emotional, but they also have a tough outer shell, and that's probably what you've encountered here. It can take a while for a Cancer to let their guard down, especially if they've been hurt before. Assuming he's around your age, he's probably had more than a few bad experiences already with women, and has developed an especially thick shell.

He's in early 40s, probably even more bad experience... He is still not very talkative today but has been trying to flirt with me like wink and seductive smile.

Yes I'm serious I really like him. Everyone around us can sense our attraction towards each other. I just hope he doesn't have a gf or anything I suspect this is what keeps him from asking me out or cross the line

Cancerian? What does that mean, does he have cancer? I'd say he's probably concerned with that and wouldn't be able to focus on a relationship. Or he wouldn't want you to have to deal with it as well.

I thought this too, but i think she's just one if those "horoscope girls". Maybe the guy is a Cancer. Thats my best bet
