Why would he give me his number if.....??

I met this guy at work I'm really interested in he would ask if I had a boyfriend and why I didn't have one so I assumed he was interested especially when yesterday he stopped me before I left to go home and said "can you keep a secret?" I was confused by his question but I said yes and he said "well here why don't you take down my number" I pulled out my phone and did just that...later on that night I texted him it was around 10:30 because I didn't want to text him TOO late into the night but I didn't want to text him early right after I got his number and seem desperate...but he never texted me back...at all...so the next day at work I playfully smiled and said "so you can't text anybody back" (I smiled because I didn't wanna look desperate) he looked at me and smiled and said "ohhh I didn't get get home til around 1am" (im guessing from work) but something in his body language told me different...he would look at me and look down quickly at something else and continue moving around a lot...i know he was working but a little more eye contact would have been nice...then he said "ur gonna have to text me again because I didn't get home til late" then I said "so you didn't get it?" he took a quick pause and said no...so by now I'm like wtf...so I gave him my number instead and told him well this time its ur turn to text me first he said "alright I got u" so I left...when I got outside I deleted his number out my phone to resist the temptation of texting him first and if he text me then I would have his number again...its almost 11pm...no text...i don't get it...y would he want me to have his number if he doesn't plan on talking to me? This is wasting time 4 no reason...I'm really interested in him but not enough to be desperate I was happy when he asked me to take down his number but its not going the way I planned...y would he give me his number when I didn't ask 4 it even though I'm happy I got it...should I just 4get about him and move on?

you keep saying your trying so hard to not appear desperate.. what do you think he is doing? he's paying these stupid little games too.. the first night, you texted him, he probably did come home late and he got your text but didn't want to admit it because then you would ask him why he didn't reply.. then he would have to come up with another lie or stupid answer.. and the next day, he has your number but he didn't text you because he was thinking what you were thinking the day before.. " if I text her today, she will think I'm desperate so ill wait till she texts me again because she has my number ".. but you deleted it.. see what I'm getting at? now he's probably gona wait a while to text you because on the first day you waited to text him so that made him think " oh she doesn't want to be desperate ".. -__- he knows your playing the game and he's doing too .. so the frustration your in now is your own fault .. but yea that's what's going on.. you can forget about him if he never texts you. seeing as how you don't have his number anyways.

personally, I don't understand you behavior hahah but whatever.. people are unique.

He's doing that because he's desperate and trying not to make the same mistakes that you are trying not to make. He wants you to yearn for him. Watch, he'll text you in the next couple of days. It's just like my boy jusa said below. He's got you hanging by a thread, he did just what I would have done. We all do this because guys and girls' mentalities of each other are so misconstrued that we think to get the other person we need to play not too hard to get in order to get what we want. This is true to an extent but not to this extent. You text me, I don't text back, you give me your number, I don't call. Rembember though, he's doing all this to keep you interested, so that he can get the ultimate prize...you.

He is playing games. He wants to know how desperate you are since he knows that you don't have a boyfriend. He was supposed to text you back or at least he should have said that he was not able to read your message. It is not your fault if he doesn't read your message, so what if he reached late at home ? The message is always stored on your mobile.

I would suggest you to wait and see whether he texts you back. Tomorrow, don't talk to him anything about this. Talk to him only about work stuff & nothing else.

If he is into you, he will text you back or will tell you something about it on his own.
