This guy I am familiar with from the past said hi to me but it caught me off guard and I didn't recognize it was him until it was too late. I was also panicking. Do you think he's not going to like me anymore?

Are you ever going to see the guy again? It honestly may not matter--if you aren't commonly seeing each other and you fancy him, that was probably your chance.

In any case, it's in the past now, don't worry about it. If you come across him again, just act normal as if nothing ever happened.

Depends how sensitive he is. Usually if that happens to me, it does more then I think... I just usually apologize and say, I realized it was you when you already left... and then I attribute it to old age lol nothing to get upset about

If he's that sensitive to cry about a simply missed hi then I wouldn't feel too bad. When you see him again, go up to join and tell him you realized it was him after he left... and leave it at that

i am sorry i was under the impression that all though you knew him in the past it was more of a friendly acquaintance

if he meant a lot to you, try and look him up, you got his name right? try searching for him in a phonebook or maybe on the internet

i don't think someones absence absolves me from feelings, my father passed away when i was 7 years old i think about him everyday

but acquaintances, i could care less about acquaintances

Oh no I do harbor some feelings of interest there.

I could search his name but I'm afraid it won't do me any favors or advantage when it comes to guys. Instead that would lead me to tread the fine line into an impression of being too forward or forthcoming. He's a lost cause I'll have to say.

And I am sorry about your father. Hope you are still able to live through life well and positively.

I am the same way with acquaintances. I couldn't care about those either.

If he got offended maybe your chances are ruined. Next time you see him try to explain why you didn't say hi and I think that it can fix things.
