Winking: creepy or not?

A lot of times when I'm on the train or similar situations and catch eye contact with a cute girl a couple times (enough that it's both apparent that we noticed each other). The next time she looks over I'll give a quick little wink. I've found that it's completely hit or miss. Some girls seem disgusted by it, but others will smile and blush, giving a perfect opportunity to go say hi.

Girls, what's your opinion? Does it make you think the guy is a complete creeper? Or is it flattering, or a good icebreaker?

Well, I don't think its creepy at all. I think its pretty cool how a guy can easily do something like that. I know I couldn't wink at a guy like that. Unless the guy is just a complete perv and stalker. Then we have a problem.

This guy once winked at me. And I was taken aback. Because it was just like whoa! Lol but it was cute because he was really nice.

But winks can sometimes give out the wrong message. Might give out the idea of just playing or wants to ask/approach in a wrong way. That's a miss.

A wink and then starting a convo. A hit. Lol at least for me. But everyone is different. So IN MY CASE. I'm absolutely okay with winking!

I don't think it's creepy to wink , unless the guy is over 50, that's a little creepy. Depending on the situation, if a guy is winking at me, I may conclude he's just another player type trying to get my attention. If you think winking is not working for you, you can never go wrong with a nice smile. A nice smile and eye contact comes across as more genuine way to get a girls attention. Maybe that would be received better. Good luck!

Depending on the situation it can be really cute but like if you've been staring at me for a while and then you just start winking at me then I might be a little creeped out but then again if we make eye contact and then you just wink at me then I'll think that you are cute and funny guy that I'll like to know. Just make sure that you do it at the right time and your just cute about it then it won't be creepy. I hoped I helped you out!

If I were interested in a guy and he winked to me, I wouldn't find it creepy.

What if a guy that you like has winked at you on at least 3 seperate occasions with a smile but he doesn't really make an effort to come up and talk to you, but he does always smile at you and you always catch him looking at you? but then he also does that with another girl at your workplace, what then?

To be honest, winking is a little cheesy more than creepy (at least in my opinion). Sometimes it's cute at a bar when I have been drinking, but for the most part, it's just not something you do. If you want to flirt with a girl via body language or facial expression simply flash her a smile. Otherwise,I suggest walking right over to the girl to talk to her.

Well it just depends on the girl. Winking has different meanings to some. I personally think its cute although I would never wink back. But if she looks like she's interested in you, a wink should be harmless.

Others can find it rude though for some reason.

well if I'm attracted to him and he isn't like stalking me, I would think it's cute

but if he's not my type and he's winking at me, I would hope that he stops

Depends on what I'm thinking of the guy. I've had old guys wink at me, obviously creepy lol But if I was attracted to a guy and he winked at me, I'd smile and blush.

If you're talking to her and then you wink then its a really bad idea or you're walking and see her then wink that's a really bad idea too but but in you're situation yea I think you should wink at her but its not an ice breaker! Its definitely flattering.

It honestly depends on the guy to me. If he keeps it up and practically stares at you, then yeah, it's a DEFINITE turn off!! However, if he winks and gives you a slight smile, it's definitely flattering.

Haha, depends what kind of wink you have ;) But, uh, unless your actually talking to that person, I don't think winking is really appropriate. Hell, I think it is actually getting out of style. Interesting question nevertheless.

I find it VERY flattering usually...and most of the girls I know do as well. Go for it, if they don't like it, oh well right? Not really loosing anything.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like the whole winking concept is completely hit or miss. But I guess almost every time you flirt with a girl it's hit or miss so it's all a gamble.
