I was in this situation once because I was with someone else at the time. I stayed with the other guy because I was insecure and he was a safety blanket in a way. Truth was, though, that I liked the other guy so much more than my boyfriend at the time. I wanted to be with him, but I don't know why I held back. I wish I hadn't. When me and my boyfriend broke up, I planned to tell him my feelings, but by then it was too late and I think he distanced himself from me because he couldn't handle being friends. I was devastated because I never got to share my strong feelings for him. He really liked me too. Like, a lot and I ruined everything because I was afraid. Let him know how you feel. You'll regret it if you don't say anything.

I say tell him, but make sure you're sure of your feelings before you do. I've been on the other side of falling for a friend and having her turn me down. As much as it hurt then, our friendship survived and is as good as ever now. That being said, if she suddenly realized she has feelings for me, I would want to know and give it a try with her, but if she was again like "oops, actually I guess I was wrong", I don't think the friendship would survive going through that much pain again.
