A 17 year old girl is flirting with me at work. She is pretty, yet she is smart and mature for her age. She goes out to concerts and has her own friends, but isn't very flirty towards others, but me. She also took many AP classes last year. While I admire her and am falling in love with her, she is 17, and in the USA, it is illegal to date or have sex with a minor (under 18). What should I do to let her down gently and/or wait until she is 18 (next May)? I do NOT want a minor mistake to mess me up for life.

actually, in some states, as long as there is not a significant age gap, it may not be an illegal situation. CHECK first though. for example, in indiana, there is something called the "romeo and juliet" law. check it out. if you do find in your state it is illegal, then just remain friends until her birthday. maybe hang out with her in groups until the appropriate time.

You can date her legally but you sure can't legally have sex with her. If you're that paranoid (which I don't blame you for a second) it might be best to wait the 10 months or hook up with someone 18+

18 is the age that you have to be for dangerous or heavy work. But all other jobs are allowed for younger people. I think there are age requirements for those jobs, and do not know what they are, but I have worked around 6 year olds and even younger doing things like sweeping.
