Low-grade insults meant to undermine the self-confidence of a woman so she might be more vulnerable to your advances. The dude says something negative about your looks to try to lower your social value so he can try to swoop in there?

That's not actually how negging works (when it works).

There are guys who probably try what you describe but it's not the classic 'neg' from game. Pushing someone's self esteem down to manipulate them works on some people I suppose but more inside a relationship than a pickup and frankly classic game wasn't interested in that.

The classic 'net hit' wasn't designed to lower self esteem. It was actually meant to trigger the competitive instincts in a high self esteem woman. 'neg' hits aren't to knock that woman down to your level. They are to get a woman who -knows- she is hot and is used to men fawning over her interested. Women like this often take it for granted men want them and when a man doesn't they actually try to make him want her to put things back to normal. The man on question can then allow her to win him over at which point she's pleased he didn't just fall for her on sight but instead realized what a magical snowflake she is.

So it's not to knock her self esteem. Rather it's to appear cool, challenge her competitiveness and then ultimately flatter her in the way she would prefer.

Yes, plenty of guys have tried to do this on me and it doesn't work on me. I never take what someone says and get offended. I usually just keep it moving. Im sure the guy is upset because your not paying him any attention or giving into his advances. Women shouldn't be mindful of men out there like this.

All guys neg. it's called flirting. It's only stupid people who do it so wrong that it comes off negative. Pick up literature puts it like this so that the generally "nice guys" don't come off as "worshiping" a girl. And it's not about looks only (in fact that would be a bad route), but devaluing anything.

If done right, it's more like harmless banter which is crucial in flirting.

A great example of good negging that works all the time for guys is when a woman, for example says something like:
"I went home last night and masturbated" The guy says "oh I knew you were not a good girl😈" he basically devalued her "good nature" in a fun way.

Yeah I've had women Neg me in an effort to try and get me to fuck them, I've also had women do it to try and manipulate me into doing other stuff for them as well, like running out to the car to get her pictures that she forgot in the car, weird shit like that. Women do it all the god damn time.

It's more the other way around, it's actually a good way to see how strong her character is. If she gives zero fucks, then our attraction to her skyrockets because she shows confidence. If she starts legit worrying about it then she's crossed off the girlfriend material list.

I do it, but I do it in a teasing way, not to insult her, but to let her know that her looks don't fade me or has me hypnotized like most guys would be. I would only neg really pretty women tho, like 8s and above, bc if they're not pretty, then they will take it as an insult and probably get really mad (self esteem issue).
