Should I make myself less available?

I'm dating this guy. we've only been on a few dates because he works full time and is going to school to be a pharmacist. needless to say he hardly ever has free time. so when he wants to go out he always calls me the night of. should I always go since his time is limited and I'm scared that's the only time I'll get to spend with him? or should I do what most girls suggest and make myself less available?

yeah I think you should make yourself less available sometimes. my DAD even gave me this advice!

a lotta times if a guy calls you the night of instead of instead of planning a date with you in advance that's not good because its like he doesn't have much respect for your time, so you need to show him that you have a life and it doesn't revolve around him. be "busy" next time he calls. guys start to take girls for granted if they are always jumping up whenever he contacts you because he'll start to think that you just live for seeing him and that you are convenient to him and you don't want him to get too comfortable like that

Don't go out with him EVERY time he calls you. Say you've got plans and make some so you aren't home stewing, thinking about him. You need to have fun too, without him. You can't let your whole life revolve around this guy, especially because it seems like things aren't serious between you two.

The truth is, he's putting his education first, which is how it should be. But unfortunately, you're on the short end of that stick. So you could stick around, waiting for a call from him, or you could move onto finding a new guy who does have time for you and wants to be serious.

I do have fun without him. I hang out with my friends all the time, but I have somehow managed to be free every time he wants to do something (except for the nights I have to work in which case I'm busy). And I completely respect the fact that he puts school first because I'm an Engineering student, so when school starts back in the fall the majority of my time will be consumed by school as well.

Well, if you're comfortable with being there for him when it's convenient for him, then that's your decision. It is good that you fill your time with other things too, like hanging out with friends. It'd be a different story if you were hanging by the phone, but since you aren't, your guys's situation works out quite nicely I guess.

The point of making yourself less available is so the person doesn't see you so often they start to get a little tired of you. He's already seeing you infrequently enough.
