Great question!

It's happened before to me more than once and I'm always in a sequence of facial expressions. I'm usually starting from lost in space becuase I don't pay attention to my surroundings. Then when I see him smiling I get deer in head lights and surprised. Finally i get skeptical like was he really smiling at me?

And i never get a chance to smile back because by the time i actually realize he was smiling at me, he's already walked by :(
