The security guard at work keeps hitting on me and acts flirty creeping me out...

i don't wanna be a snitch and tell my manager...but he's really annoying me, like he asks me to go home with him every night, or stands too close to me, or keeps staring at me. I feel really uncomfortable and don't know what to do. Any advice?

I say be straight froward with him first, your a woman, you can easliy destory us men just with words. it might be mean but it must be done. once you tell him (politely as you can) how about giving him cold shoulders, like just walk away from him and keep walking or something, he should get the idea in the fiest 30 min or so...if all else fails the do what you must do tell the manager...What kind of work environment is this place? a mall?

It's sexual harassment, and letting it go on will only lead to worse harassment.

Further, this person should be in no position of authority if they are conducting themselves in the manner you describe.

I know it's tough to get others in trouble, but this guy needs to not be in the position he is in, he clearly is demonstrating he can not handle the responsibility.

I know. you're absolutely right. He doesn't even watch the customers or anything, he just wastes time talking to people and makes conversation. What's the point of a security guard if he can't even make you feel secure? ugh. I will tell my manager thanks so much for the help!

Well, him talking to people is not necessarily him not doing his job. I've worked security jobs where the main source of theft was employees, so for me a great tactic was befriend employees so I could get the story on what was going on.

But again, he's not doing his job if he's sexually harassing you. Security is an honorable profession, unfortunately it attracts so many people that don't have what it takes to be in law enforcement, usually because they are less than ethical personally.

I would tell your manager, because that's clearly sexual harassment. Especially that he's a security guard! These people shouldn't be considerd as a source of threat, they should do be the exact opposite.

Report him to his manager and then if that doesn't work, call his branch office an make a formal complaint to management.
