Women get in free, which usually means if guys know that, they'll want to be around gorgeous women, so they're willing to pay. It brings women in, they're probably paying for drinks, though (make money back quick by charging 6-15 bucks for some drinks, which probably costs the club maybe a few bucks, if that). Then the guys pay to get in "exclusive" club (makes the guy "cool") and it's where all the women are! (Sure, I'll pay!) Hell, whether male or female, if they're not really interested, they get drinks and get to hang with friends.

I don't think it would work the other way around, if there were guys nights, where guys get in free and women have to pay. Women don't care enough to pay. They get hit on enough already, many of them, so they already have their egos stroked. They don't need to pay for it, especially if they feel entitled (many do; not all, but I'd say a majority), so they wouldn't pay to get in just to have guys possibly hit on them.

I haven't bought anyone a drink, usually because I prefer to get to know them first. I don't know what they even like. And usually, I'm not "enough" to see any flirting, so I wouldn't get to that point anyway. Then paying $10 for a drink (especially one that I'm not enjoying) seems ridiculous to me.

Let's say I went all out. Buy cologne, a good outfit, buying drinks, cover charges, parking fees... blowing $50-200 to get nothing but rejection, nope. Not my idea of fun.

These things are very regional. Each bar had it's own culture and vibe-- and doing well in one one way doesn't mean you'll do well in any bar.

The local city, who lives there, the bar owners and the tone and culture they create all matter. As well as the age of the women, and your age. Hell, even education level plays a huge role.
