I have study hall with my crush...HELP?

My crush and I share a study hall, but I have never talked to him during our free block.* I know it's a very valuable time to get to know someone in study hall because no one does anything anyways. I guess it's only purpose it just to talk to people. I don't have any friends in the free block that I can hang out with except him. But we're not close friends or anything, but I want to become his friend and get over the crush I have on him.

* I have talked to him before, he knows I exist and stuff like that.

So should I talk to him?

WHAT should I say and HOW do I start a conversation?

HOW do I approach him in a friendly way?

start by sitting near him. pretend you're doing work, look up and when you meet his eyes, say something like "i can't wait until school's over". that should get a conversation going about summer and plans and stuff
