Should I just straight up ask my crush if she would be interested in dating? I'm tired of playing games.

I am a shy somewhat socially awkward guy with little confidence and I have had a crush on my good friends sister for a couple of years. I find myself thinking about her often. I tried flirting/talking to her in the past but I failed to make a relationship out of it. I like her a lot but she is also somewhat shy and socially awkward. I have tried to move on but she keeps on coming back into my mind. I know she used to like me a lot but whenever I try to talk to her now it is very awkward. She reminds me of a girl version of myself. I'm tired of this weird awkward relationship we have. Should I just ask her straight up if she likes me and would be interested in dating? I'm tired of playing games through texting/Facebook. I have no idea if she even likes me at all or thinks about me the same way.

Just ask her out. I'm in EXACTLY the same position as your girl is in (brother's good friend and all) except for the amount of time we've known each other.

From the girl's side, it's frustrating because I can't figure out if the guy likes me or not. It seems like one day he stares straight at me, and the next he keeps his eyes completely averted away from me. If I had a definite signal, I would approach him. But I don't and I wish that he would just finally approach me!

The reason your conversations are awkward is probably because she likes you, too. If you're both shy, then you both clam up. I would say just ask her out! Even if she doesn't like you now (which she probably does) there's still a high chance of her liking you again if she knows that you're an option because she liked you in the past.
