He doesn't text me first, but always carries on conversation?

We've been texting for some months now, but when we stop texting to go to sleep or whatever it's always me that has to start the conversation, once we're talking he doesn't let the convo die and he'll change the subject if I just put 'haha' or something that you normally just wouldn't reply to but why doesn't he ever text me first, so today I didn't text him and he still didn't text me first. It's been about two weeks. Idk, I've been pretty busy with finals and such so it might be the same for him. We go to different schools. I don't like this guy - I don't know him well enough but I really just don't know what to do, I like talking to him but I don't want to just annoy him if he doesn't want to talk to me. Just wanted thoughts/advice - should I stop talking to him? Does this mean that he doesn't want to talk to me? I'm just wondering because I really don't know

Maybe he just doesn't remember you often enough to actually text first.

But when you text him, he's delighted and wants to carry on texting.

...I think he's just preoccupied with things to take the time to think of texting, but when it does happen (when someone texts him), he's up for it...

Or it could be that he wants to see how much you like him, and how often you'll contact him. - and this one could be for 2 reasons. He either wants to see how much he can string you along, or he wants to see do you really care enough to contact him first (more then just once).

Or he just doesn't want to bother you and hopes you'll contact him first.

i'm in the same situation as you. Stillwater-can be right...

But yeah I'm always hurt when he does that to me. Because I'm not the type who usually initiates convo, but with him, I kinda forget myself for a while just to be able to talk to him. That's why I felt really bad when I try to initiate contact and then he just ignored me...damn it hurts.

Guys don't want to start the convo in fear of seeming as they don't want to come on too strong or catch you at a bad time. Me personally I don't care. You can be getting eaten by a freaking tiger and I'll still try to text you but that's not always the case. And if you don't like him or anything I don't see the issue. Just ask him why he's doing this is my best guess to figure it out...
