Is it weird to ask a waitress to show you her face?

It's not only weird, it's rude and you risk getting her in trouble!
I'm pretty sure most restaurants and public places require ALL employees to keep a mask on at all times around customers for safety concerns. Meaning if she pulls her mask down just so you can see how "cute" she is, if her manager sees, she might get reprimanded... because of YOU.
Don't be that idiot.
Order your meal, be polite to her, tip her, and go about your way. If you like her so much, ask her does she have a picture of herself on her phone or social media (with the exception of myself, most women have at least one selfie or picture on their phone). If she's comfortable enough, she might show you.
Words of gold as always! @Cynicaldreamer
@HawkPerception Oh hi Hawk! I haven't seen you in a while: I hope you're doing well~
@Cynicaldreamer Always uninstalling and reinstalling this app haha. A lot of people on this app are annoying enough to keep me at bay, but hearing opinions from people like you always brings me back or helps keep me around :)
Yes. And if you were an SJW and demanded she show you her face and she took off her mask and did it, you'd probably try to get her fired from her job for "breaking safety protocols" and being "irresponsible" and all that other sh*t. And if you asked and she didn't do it, you'd probably accuse of her of being rude and "disrespectful" and not want to tip her or something.
So it's best to not even ask; you don't have the right to know anyway. I'm ugly, so me not having to show my face is a good thing, however, even my eyes are ugly and look like a drunkard's, so it doesn't help that much. I'm so glad I don't really go out to eat much, and NEVER did in the US. I hate that whole waiting culture.
Dude, really?
Risking the spread of COVID just so that you……………………. can see if she’s cute?
I’m almost speechless. I wish I hadn’t seen this question. I didn’t have any faith in humanity to begin with (since people are selfish, irresponsible idiots), but this. Wow.
What a coincidence! A few hours ago, my husband was telling me and a waitress that her eyes resemble those of his cousin. She immediately recognized his face & voice too. So, she pulls down her face mask. It turns out that she's that cousin he was reminded of. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The restaurant manager on duty told her she can take a long break so she can enjoy the "family reunion" with my hubby & me. We invited her to our home after her shift ends tonight. My husband is excited to catch up with her tonight, even if it's late, past midnight.

She's there to serve you your food.
So what if she IS cute? You going to harass her? Hit on her? If she isn't are you going to degrade her and be unsatisfied with her service?
Let her do her JOB. Her face has nothing to do with it.
Yes, that's weird, annoying, and lowkey gross.
I had a cute waiter once who wore aviator sunglasses every time I visited that restaurant. Did I ask him to take them off? Of course not! The aviators didn't even (necessarily) serve a purpose, but the face mask does. Respect her boundaries and place of business.
It's not weird, it's shitty. What the hell are you thinking?
I'd be more diplomatic, but this is an anonymous place. That means you can change your ways without feeling slighted. Don't do that; and think about whatever way of thinking made you want to do that, and stop that way of thinking.
I get it but its inappropriate to ask someone who is just trying to do their job to do that. Maybe you could just ask for her IG because you think she's cute and then see her from there? 😅
Yes, and not only is it weird, it's rude. The waitress and/or waiter is there to serve you food, take your order, and hopefully make a decent tip in the process. They are not there to flirt with you, feed your ego, or show their face - especially with Covid raging around the world. So don't ask!
I was asked this before at work and I was slightly offended but I didn’t care. I’ve done it before and I told the guy to pull his down as well. Turned out he was attracted to me and I wasn’t attracted to him. It doesn’t work in everyone’s favor so I wouldn’t suggest asking that question.
Some people have asked me to remove my mask so they can see who they are talking to or they will say you are so pretty from your eyes but I can’t see the rest of your face (as if they want me to remove it lol) some people will just take their mask off as if they want me to follow suit. I’m not a waiter but this is what I’ve encountered from enter acting with strangers.
Why would you want to see the face of a slave? They choose to listen to their masters and want to be lower than human beings. They don't want to be free men and women like the rest of us. They were born with freedom and they voluntarily gave it up to serve their slavers.
What the... literal fuck.
Yeah, you've been reported. Go let your dad fuck your asshole, slave. 😊
Man, She's just working... leave people alone and let them drudge through her work day same as anyone else. Besides, ask anyone who's ever worked in a service industry what the odds are that she's as nice and or PC / polite when off-shift (or when in the back)... HAHAHAHAHAHA
It’s happened to me a couple of times, and I personally feel awkward when people ask me that. Part of me thinks it’s sweet that someone wants to know what I look like that much, but at the same time the way you approach it can be VERY weird (2 new coworkers followed me around asking to see me without a mask…that was very** weird!!!). If you want to know what a girl looks like, instead of asking her to take her mask off-ask if she’s on FB or IG. Hope this helps! :)
This may be the single most depressing question I've ever read on this site. If seeking a degree of human interaction with the humans you interact with has become weird, then all I can say is "stop the insanity, I want to get off".
That is creepy. She is at work and you abuse your position as customer to induce the illusion of attraction because if she rudely refuses you could complain to manager and ruin her job so she must be polite even to such creepy requests.
I understand how you feel. And I guess I am in the minority. Wearing a mask, for what ever reason, dehumanizes people. The US is more like China. I remember when we had a free country and we respected different opinions. Now we treat people that think differently as demonic and that is pathetic.
well, it may come off as strange but also her job is not to entertain you, with her looks.
it is her job to serve you and not be hit on.
try to be one of those men who try to hit on a waitress they meet every day. but you should also know she may not be able to take her mask off either.
Yes extremely weird and extremely rude. If that happened to me I'd be creeped out for sure.
It's inappropriate for starts. Whoever is behind the mask doesn't matter. All you're doing is just putting yourself in a position to judge them by their looks and not their service.
Don't be a moron
It's not only weird, that could get her fired if she actually pulls her mask down. Restaurants require servers to wear masks as a condition of employment... for the safety of staff and customers.
Why don't you just be a gentleman if you chat her up and use your wit and charm maybe you can get a fucking date and then you'll see her without the mask on and then if you're that superficial about her looks you don't have to ask for a second date
it’s like telling someone could I see your muscles or something like that it’s not wrong or bad it’s just weird and kinda creepy
WTH. You have no right to know if your waitress looks cute, asking is just rude. She obviously wears the mask for a reason.
If you want to see people's faces to know if you should ask them out or so, then you need to go somewhere else.
Maybe you need glasses or eye surgery or some other help? Because if you cannot see her face and that she is then you are blind.
Add one more to the "creepy things not to do" list.
Its smoother to start an innocent feedback about how now everyone's smiles are gone. Or ask one if there ever will be days that real life smiley faces can be seen?
This is giving her the idea to show her face and smile to you.
Gross! Imagine you’re at a job and someone asked that from you to judge your attractiveness. And even if they are uncomfortable with that they will still do that because you are paying their tip.
You just have to be smooth about it. Say something like 'Hey, can you pull down your mask? I want to see where my dick is going tonight.'
No is it only rude, it's incredibly disrespectful. You want to a woman to start taking items of clothing off... go to a strip club.
While I do think it's wrong of him to ask, I also disagree that you consider a mask an article of clothing. Before the pandemic, masks were strictly for safety purposes at a job site or religious garments.
@HawkPerception well they were actually used for a lot more than that, including fashion, disguises and costumes. High heels used to be men’s fashion, before they became a a woman’s. Shoes were originally used for protection and functionality before they became fashionable….
You're missing my point. Despite masks being normal at costume parties and the asker's case being rude, in most scenarios masks are rude because it shows you're hiding your identity from others.
@HawkPerception lol I’ve never had an issues being recognized wearing a surgical mask.
I think it is a way to make the best out of a bad situation. Once you do that she will know you want to ask her out.
I know it's covid and all, but how is it weird to want to see a girl's face?
Weird and rude and will most likely make her uncomfortable. Also, why is this specifically about waitresses and not also about waiters? That just shows it's definitely something inappropriate.
You are a creep that needs to be banned from such locations.
That's super creepy. It's not her job to show herself off to customers. I hope most of them refuse.
Yes. Weird. UNLESS you are planning on pulling out your turgid peen for her to pleasure.
As a restaurant worker yeah your creepy and I promise you the workers are not talking positively about you
Yeah that does sound kinda weird. She probably just wants to do her job and it would seem really rude to ask.
Yeah it’s weird, and I’m sure you’re making them uncomfortable. I wouldn’t
It’s not a problem. It’s just like asking for a background and credit check before you take someone out on a date. It’s perfectly reasonable
I can understand how you feel about seeing who is who. But Covid Is the thing here. so it's down to them.
No, I can't stand the muzzles. They're disgusting and you can never hear them talk. I want to communicate with a human. Humans have faces.
Tel the waiter to wear a plastic bag over the head and duct tape it shut!
It’s much more effective.
It sounds like you’re stuck in a red college frame of mind.
Why don't you ask her to show you her crotch too, to make sure she's not a transvestite.
It is weird for sure, no second thoughts or substantiation required
It’s not rude. You’re becoming an Alpha, dominate her.
Yeah don't do that.
Yes, that weird and you'd be considered a creep. It's also unhealthy.
I ask for them to pull their panties to the side so I can see their luscious love lips
I'm not sure. But it's probably weird if a waitress asks me to show her my dick.
It’s only not weird on a date or if you’re doing a security check at the airport
that is very weird and strange dont do that
Depends if you are doing it to flirt, otherwise it shouldn’t matter
I've just gotten in the habit of checking out there boobs/ass more.
then she asks for you to pull down your pants to see if you are really a man.
Very weird and kind of creepy, in my opinion.
She's WORKING you fucking moron.
That’s extremely weird
YES very rude and bad.
Creepy
Why should every waitress show you her face.
yes it is rude and creepy.
Not when she looks like that
