What's the Difference Between Flirting and Just Being Friendly?

I ask because I really do not know (I have trouble reading body language). How can you tell when someone is being more than just friendly, and actually flirting? Are there "signs" you have to be able to see? What should I look out for?

Ah the age old question, I'm in the same boat and yet to find an answer as everyone seems to have a different opinion ranging from just a fun conversation to one full of dirty jokes and innuendos.

Be interesting to see if you do get a definitive answer but I get the feeling it's subjective, which is why it's so confusing.

A girl is flirting if she treats you noticeably different from other guys. The key word here is "different" because all girls have different personalities. You can't say a girl having a long conversation or making dirty jokes necessarily means she's interested. She could just be friendly with a funky sense of humor.

Some women will be shy normally and become open, trusting, and maybe a little provocative when flirting. Others are normally loud and confident, but then become demure when flirting. You never know. The only constant is figuring out if there's a difference.
