It means he likes coffee and wants some comveration with it. True coffee connoisseurs always like coffee with conversation.
Seriously, it means he wants to ge to know you in a quiet, relaxed sort of place without the pressure of a formal dating situtation. Plus, he wants to know if you like coffeee. Some guys won't date non-coffee women. It's just that way, coffee is better than sex for them.

He's asking you out but he's making it seem very casual . I've done this before , where I ask a girl out for coffee and where we just sit and chat . It's a good way to see if the other person is interested in you or not .
So I had this situation, thought the same as above. However 3/4 through the 'date' he made reference to his Girlfriend. So did I read this wrong? absolutely so confused by this one as this is a first. seems like a lot of effort for someone that is already taken or did he realise he isn't interested and figured he would put that on the table. thoughts would be appreciated.
it's considered a date, but a safe date, because coffee is usually shorter than dinner and easier to step out of if things are flowing. seems like he wants to test the waters, which sounds like fun. congrats!
that means he asked you out, wants to get to know you better, may potentially lead to something more.
he wants to know you better , so it's basically a date.

He's asking you out so he can get to know you a little better. It's more common then you think, and often leads to some compelling conversations and possibly a future date.
It's like a date...but less threatening. Just to be able to talk to you, find out what you're about.
he's asking you out in a casual, not so forward way
