Tried talking to a guy I like but didn’t lead to much and I left really quickly. Should I try talking to him again or just give it up?

there’s this guy in my history class I like and I wanted an excuse to talk to him and strike up a conversation so I asked and about homework for the class and he just was friendly and answered and then I thanked him and ran off with my friend. He didn’t seem like he already liked me or anything but I also didn’t really start conversation. Should I give it up or try to talk to him again tomorrow?
