I think if a guy is shy, he should show the girl he respects her, than the shyness becomes a compliment to her beauty and a sign of his attraction to her and not a sign of his weakness in public, avoid talking or hinting at sex while being shy because that will make you look self hating and selfish if your sexual desire is combined with anxiety and awkwardness.

I'm a shy girl but I met only one shy guy who was even more shy than me. And I felt like I was the one who should do everything, call the waiter, order the food, fight and product myself and he was just standing there talking in a calm voice so that was such a turn off for me, I need to feel the masculine energy... So if he is shy but knows how to the things right and when to raise his voice that's actually pretty cool for me as a shy girl but being too shy that can't do anything at all is such a turn off

They tend to say something like, "I was wondering if you'd like you go out sometime, but if not that's fine too." It screams insecurity and basically suggests she shouldn't want to go out with him. Just offer, "Would you like to have dinner with me Friday night? I can pick you up at 6."
