I'm not black so I can't really comment, maybe straight. African hair always seems so alien to me to be honest. Braids, weaves, wigs, afros, gerry curls, something they call nappy hair but I don't really understand what that is, there's a lot about African American culture i just dont understand. There weren't many black people were I grew up. First black person I ever met was an African woman from eithiopia. She was like 6ft2 tall, slender, and her hair was kind of grown out naturally completely by choice rather than the way i see African American women wear it. Her skin was beyond dark, almost blue rather than brown or light brown like I see here in America. She taught in the local primary school, she had some impressive degrees from trinity college. She used to wear long flowing dresses that looked African in style and she walked like a model. She really stood out as a person. She was such a great teacher and kind.
I like to keep my hair long past my shoulders often to my lower back and as I'm ginger I don't dye it, though occasionally I get highlights. I like to wear it in pony tails, pig tails, plaited, braided and sometimes wear it up like I've seen lyndsey Stirling does.

It all depends on the shape of your face and your features. With the right hairstyle can make a person very attractive or not. The combination has to work together

Straight, however braids are better for pulling during sex
Both can look nice, but I understand there are maintenance issues with braids. Which looks better depends on the woman.
I like both.
