Honestly I’m not sure it matters, but if y’all had a conversation for the first time that made you feel like you had a connection, you might never get to see them again. Plus, if they reject you it won’t be the end of the world. Sure, it might hurt, but in time you’ll get over it.

However, I do know that some girls don’t like it when guys they just met ask for their number because they’re private people.

It'll depend on the person, but the safer thing is to wait. If there's already a second encounter, you can see how that goes and ask then.

Only bring it up when it makes sense to ask so you have a way to remain in contact. It's not an "in" to just get someone's number, they have to want to talk to you too, so it has to be when it makes sense and no sooner.
