I work at a supermarket doing customer service. Every now and then a girl will show signs of interest to me, giggling and so on. I generally wonder if they like me or not. Is it okay to ask for a cute customers number in this scenario?
In most cases, asking a customer for their number while you're working is not appropriate. Here are some reasons why:
• It can make customers uncomfortable. They've come to shop, not be hit on by employees. Your request could come across as unprofessional or make them uneasy about returning to the store.
• There's an inherent power imbalance. As an employee, you have some power over customers in that interaction. They may feel pressured to give you their number out of politeness, even if they're not interested.
• It blurs boundaries. Customers expect a professional, transactional relationship with employees, not a personal one. You risk damaging that if you make the interaction more personal.
• There could be consequences at work. If a customer complains about your behavior, you could face reprimand or even termination. Your company likely has policies against employees asking out customers.
• Signs of "interest" could be misinterpreted. Giggling, smiling, etc. are common customer service behaviors, not necessarily signs of romantic interest. Misreading those cues risks making assumptions.
• Consider alternatives. If you'd like to get to know a customer better, leave the option open without directly asking for their number. You could say something like "Have a nice day" with an extra-kind smile. If they're interested, they may initiate further contact on their own terms.
So in summary, while your intentions may be well-meaning, it's best to avoid directly asking customers for their number while you're "on the clock." Focus on providing excellent customer service and leave the door open - if a connection is meant to be, it will happen naturally without crossing boundaries at work.
Hope this perspective helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

It's better to have it from her friend, but if you don't see anyone around her, just invite her for a date at first.
Well let's see... are you going to make a career as a supermarket clerk or possibly have fun with someone you want to?
You can do that but please do not be awkward. There are more chances of them saying no than yes. Be smooth.

It's cool until they report to your manager for "harassment"
You could. It's dodgy. You could give them your number. Leave it in their hands.
Yes definitely
