Girls, Would it be weird to sit next to a girl in a college lecture?

Say there is a girl I like, and I wanna sit next to her and start a conversation to see if we hit it off or if she is interested. Would it be weird to sit next to her even though the class is 50% empty? I was thinking of asking her if its cool if I can sit next to her, then introducing myself, then seeing where the conversation goes. If she does not seem interested I would back off. Would that be weird or am I overthinking this?

Well, we all know what your ultimate intentions are by doing what you plan to do. I would find it very odd that a guy sits next to me when half the space is empty.

My next though and move would be to switch to another empty space because I am fully aware what the next move would be.

There is obviously only one single reason why a guy would move in so close and that is certainly not to ask for the time of day. It is too obvious that your attempt is ultimately to get into her pants. That is how every girl would perceive your move and that is, if you are totally honest with yourself, your ultimate goal.

It is weird and you should refrain from doing that.
