Sitting next to my crush in class?

well in my one class I have with this guy who I have liked for 6 months, we have sat next to each other once. The school year is ending soon and our teacher changes our seating chart about every month. We're friends but I only talk to him about once a week, but I really want to talk to him more so we can possibly hangout over the summer. We don't have any mutual friends so sitting next to him is basically my only chance at this.. my question is should I ask my teacher to seat me next to him in private? Or would this be a bad idea? It's hard to tell what he thinks of me when we talk so little, in the past, he flirted with me a lot. I am in highschool, by the way.

I don't think it's a good idea to ask the teacher to get involved. If I were you I would talk to him and find a way to ask him out so you can get to know him after class.

tell him you wanna see a movie that's playing but your friends ditched you and you don't want. to see it alone. He'll likely speak up and offer to go with you and if not you could follow up and ask :)

Im a guy and im in a super similar situation. I always wanna do something like you. If you're already next to him you dont need to be put in private, the seating chart is there for a reason. I know that if the girl sitting next to me even gave me the slightest sign of wanting to talk to me, id give her anything she wanted. Give him a shot, i know id reply

just consider him a normal person
just go and sit next to him, he won't mind at all (unless he's an arrogant jerk ofc)
when we have a crush on someone, we think that he/she knows everything
not to mention we give them super powers to them in mind already
ur crush is just a normal person, he can't read whats going on in ur mind
