Girls, why my freind flirts with me constantly then claims she does not like me then flirts with me again?

i have a very close freind who has been flirting with me for months so i cassually asked if they liked me because i like them and they said sorry no and listed every other girl i knew and asked why i dont like them then once the awkwardness ends they flirt with me again by calling me super smart brushing there leg against mine and saying im the kindest person they know. am i missing something cause this girl is very shy and has told me before they wished i would talk to them before we met but were to shy to interupt my conversation. one thing to note is she has 2 freinds total includeing me and i dont really get an idea of how she reacts around other boys.

You either misread her intentions or she likes the attention you give her. In either case though, I’d stop with the flirting. You don’t need to be her confidence boost when she needs it and you don’t need to keep getting your hopes up with he flirting, since you know you like her and it isn’t innocent for you anymore.

I guess she isn't just flirting, but only making fun. Or she wanna have your attention without thinking you may have serious interests. If you're interested in her, you should talk to her and tell her what you're thinking and what you're hoping for.
