How do I get this off grid emo guy to know that I like him?

Okay, so first off, we're both in college. He's a senior (graduating May 2026), and I'm a sophomore. We've had classes together, and we've had a few conversations about random things. But that was when I was a freshman during both our fall and spring semesters. The class was Italian, and now he's not in Italian anymore because he did a Maymester this past summer and tested out of it.(We have to take three semesters of Italian at my school.) During the classes we did have, sometimes we'd sit by each other, and usually he'd compliment me on my outfits or, like, stare at certain clothing pieces that I'd have on. He dresses up like a typical nonchalant grunge/emo guy; he skates and smokes weed and cigarettes and is into raves and electronic music. We follow one another on Instagram, and we'd text each other regarding Italian fashion or music. But it was mainly me asking about fashion or music because he was in a class that I was interested in. I texted him this past week, but he took forever to respond, as he claimed last fall semester that he doesn't use social media. I'm not sure if he knows I'm into him, and I've tried to flirt or hint that I like him. He's a really easygoing and outward person. Not shy at all, just inaccessible. So I'm wondering if this is too far-fetched or if I should just throw myself at him so he can get the hint. It's just hard to talk to him because we have completely different majors, and I wasn't accepted into the club that he is in. And he's not really around campus or on social media that much. Also, he's white and I'm Black, and I have no idea if he'd be into me. I follow a somewhat grunge/emo style some days but not all the time. Sorry if this is childish; I'm just really into him.

Just tell him about your romantic interest in him and ask him out on a date either in person or via voice call or direct text message. If he is a non- traditional emo guy he would LOVE for you to make the aggressive move of initiating the interaction. I don't think that you being Black and him being White is anything of an issue in this current decade of the 2020's and it is EXTREMELY where I live in North Carolina. If he turns you down there is only a 1-9% chance of it being due to race and ethnicity and most White males (including Myself) find Black women to be equally attractive and desirable as White women. Even if his parents are stuck in the past they will be breathing in a sigh of relief knowing that their son brought home a real woman that he is dating rather than someone who is a twisted tranny whatever! Give him a try and see what happens👍

Honestly, just be straightforward, sometimes the best way to get the hint across is to drop it and be real. Since he’s kinda off-grid, subtle flirting might fly under his radar. Plus, vibe and style differences don’t mean much if you click. Go for it!
