Depending on the type of hug. A man who is intimate w a girl will almost always place his hands lower when he’s hugging her. That’s a more intimate place, especially the lower part of her back. If he hugs you around the upper to middle of your back, it’s more of a neutral, friendly hug, a comforting hug. Lower indicates more intimate. Same as if a man walked up to a girl and place his hands on her upper back vs lower small of her back.
