There is nothing that is deemed appropriate for every couple. As long as they are both consenting adults, that is all that matters technically. If they are both comfortable with 11 years as a gap then that is perfectly fine.

That would be too much for me personally but it may work for some people just fine.

This is why they say no more than a 10 year age gap. Because the long term success rate drop off dramatically after a gap larger than 9 years.
