Does holding hands mean anything nowadays?

There was this girl I fell hard for, it was love at first sight for those of you who believe in that. I told her I liked her a lot, I held her hand in a movie and she held mine too, that was the second time we hung out and the first time I told her about my feelings. I asked her if she was my girlfriend later that night... and she said no. Does hand holding mean anything nowadays?!

I had the same question! I went out with this guy and we were on our second date hanging out at the mall. He suddenly grabbed my hand and said "Is it okay that I do this?" and since I was really surprised and kinda liked him was like -sure, I like it. So...2days passed and I was like Is he my boyfriend? so I asked him if that's what it meant and he was like if that's what you want it to mean.

but the different thing about your situation is that it wasn't really in public. When you're holding someone's hand in public your sayin "HEY, she/he's mine!" but it sounds like your hand-holding was more like a cuddling thing since it wasn't really in public walking around or something. Next time you hold her hand at the movies, say "I know this doesn't mean that you're my girlfriend, but that's what I want it to mean, cause I really like you!" Then kiss her hand while you hold it and see what she says- it wouldn't hurt if you said this during a romantic part of the movie or kissing sceen-BUT whatever you do-don't say "love" yet and smile and look in her eyes when you say it-girls like that shit.

Hand holding doesn't always mean you're a couple. Maybe back in high school it did, but not now. It obviously means something because people don't just randomly hold hands with people, but it in no way signifies that someone is your girlfriend/boyfriend. I think you're rushing things. It was only the second time you hung out and you're asking if she's your girlfriend? It would freak me out if a guy took things that fast.

Holding hand does mean something. It just doesn't mean as much as it used to. It all depends on the person. I mean I know people that would think that holding hands does mean that you're girlfriend/boyfriend but I agree with Acuzio when he said that you don't ask if you're boyfriend/girlfriend. You ask if they want to be.

Don't ask a girl if she's your girlfriend... It's wrong to assume that you've entered into a relationship without discussion. Ask her if she *would like* to be your girlfriend.

Holding hands doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it is a physical connection that can enhance the feeling of closeness with another person.

aww! that is so sad :( for me, and I think for most GENUINE girls out there, holding hands does mean something. this proves to me that if a guy likes you he'll hold your hand.which is adorable :)
