How can you tell if a girl wants to hug you?

I hugged a girl yesterday (I think she has a crush on me) but she didn't seem as responsive as I thought she would be (she didn't squeeze and held me very lightly). She didn't pull away though, I was the one to let go after a few seconds.

You think she wanted to hug me (assuming she has a crush) and should I continue to ask for hugs? After the hug we kept teasing each other and joking around like we usually do, the behavior that made me think she liked me in the first place.

I just would have thought that she would have jumped on the opportunity to hold on to me tighter given the chance and she didn't. Maybe she just wants to be friends..

It is honestly kind of a slutty thing to do to relish in physical touch like that if you're not in a relationship. She seems like she likes you, but she doesn't want you to think she just wants to sleep with you. Enjoy the little hugs, and if you want more intense physical contact, commit to her.

Hugs are awkward at first... I give horrible hugs to the guys I like. One guy thought I hated him or something, but I just give light hugs. It's okay. Just tell her to give you a "real" hug and tease her about it. It will bring back the tease-ey atmosphere and cut the tension.

I think she likes you and just like froze up when she got closer. Try getting her used to it! :)
