What would cause a girl to all of the sudden cold shoulder a guy?

I have a friend who we became good friends (I did have a crush on her originally but I abandoned prospect of dating her)

After Spring break and a week of not seeing or talking to each other she came back and became much more stand offish and wouldn't talk to me nearly as much and sometimes not at all. When I confronted her about it the response I got was "I don't know what to say...I'm moody and I'm busy...if you are not comfortable you don't have to hang around me"

Didn't say it but I was hurt so for now I'm just giving myself space but I don't understand what could cause a sudden shift in behavior?

From my experience I gave the guy a cold shoulder because:

- he told me has a crush on me but refuses to date me. basically, he lead me on and destroyed my dreams

- he put something in my drink to try to take advantage of me

- he was disrespectful to me and can't understand why his actions were disrespectful after explaining it to him

- we are dating and I suddenly find out he had a girlfriend the whole time

maybe she likes you as well and doesn't feel you're interested in her. maybe she finds you unthoughtful. she must be offended or mad at you for some reason or if it's not you, sth changed in her life (but probability for that I think is slight).
