Why do girls say "don't touch me" or "hands off"?

I've noticed a lot that sometimes girls say don't touch me or hands off.. why do they say that? I know if a guy said that to a girl they might be accused of being gay... I don't get why girls say don't touch me or hands off (btw the girls are single)?

are they trying to play hard to get or something? if so should i, as a guy, try it when a girl tries to hug me or put there hands around my shoulder or something?

you better get that idea out of you head young fella. If a girl tries to hug you and you happen to like her, don't try to get even with her because another girl didn't like you. that would be really absurd.

Also, if a girl says don't touch me...you better not. Don't even talk to her, walk away and ignore her.

But there is good news, one day your going to find a girl that wants you to touch her. Then your going to freak out and runaway because you have not done that yet, fun times ahead young man. :-)

It sounds like they're setting their boundaries with guys, and it would be in those guys' best interests to likewise respect them. As another poster indicated, just because a girl is single doesn't mean she wants physical contact with random guys out there.

sorry but that's really sad to have to ask that. the thing is if a girl says that no way in hell! that she is playing hard to get. she means it for sure! you probably creep her out a lot. sorry but duh! wow that's all I can say.

also if I did like a guy and he tried to hug me it would be exciting so I wouldn't even joke or play hard 2 get. sooooo...the only reason a girl would say that is because you totally totally creep her out!...omg wow!

Well I don't really like it when people I don't really know touch me whether it is a guy or a girl. But it is one way of saying 'I am not interested' or 'you are in my personal space'. The only time it is okay for any one to put a hand on me or hug me or something like that is only if they were my friend. I don't understand why girls or other guys would think that a guy was gay because you said that to a girl. I surely wouldn't

They don't like you and they don't want you touching them. It's not playing hard to get it's trying to get the guy to leave you alone. Just because a girl is single doesn't mean she wants any and every guy touching her. Guys are a little different because they are less picky then girls.
