Why didn't he smile back?

I saw my crush and I gave him a small smile. He stared at my lips for a couple seconds with a blank expression- I couldn't really tell what he was thinking. I gave him a slightly bigger smile and waved at him and he waved back, but with the same blank expression on his face. Did he not smile because he isn't interested?

Maybe your smile just caught him by surprise, he probably just wasn't in that happy greeting mindset so he couldn't react properly. Good thing he waved.

This often happens to me so I wouldn't worry about it.

It could be anything. Maybe he was upset by something at the time and it had nothing to do with you. Or maybe he got a little shy while staring at your lips and got nervous. It is impossible to say for sure.

Could by shy, distracted, nervous. Not necessarily uninterested.

You have to interact with someone much more than just smiling to know if they're interested or not.

There is this girl that I like, and I do think she could like me. Because always when I look at her she is already looking at me and we get eye contact. She smiles really nice, and they forget everything and just look at her. And after I break the eye contact I realize I didn't even smile for a second. Everytime this happens. So it might be that "your" boy does the same. or maybe not

He is probably nervous as hell and like the other guy said he's beating himself up right now. Sometimes girls expect guys to be these confident Thor types when that isn't always the case.
