If my gut tells me a girl is flirting, how accurate is that gut feeling?

A lot of flirting isn't overt and relies heavily on tone of voice, and how someone says something. A lot people tend to over-sexualize things and think someone being friendly and warm = they're totally into you. I want to avoid that trap of thinking any time a girl is friendly, she's flirting.

But what about if a girl says something in a tone that gives me a "rush" and puts me in a good mood? When that happens, it certainly feels like they were flirting. Is that gut-feeling any kind of indicator that she was flirting, and not simply being "friendly"?

And since I try to avoid the conceited attitude of thinking any girl who's friendly is hooked on me, sometimes I'll be slow to assume she's flirting. BUT... if I just pay attention to the way what she said made me feel, and the vibe I got from it, I'd probably have a more accurate answer than if I try to analyze it.
