Girls: Why do you still want attention from the guy you rejected?

I just don't get it. I chased a co-worker around for a couple months. Asked her out a few times..more than I should have and got rejected each time. We hung out as friends tho a couple times and with small group settings. Lol I even spilled my guts out to her and told her how I felt about her after the very last rejection. Now that I'm at the point of knowing its not gonna go anywhere, I became a bit distant. We still talk but I rarely initiate it. We would flirt alot, and now I stopped doing that, we would joke and tease each other and just basically always chat with one another. Now, everything in my eyes is going back to how it was before I started to ask her out. But now, when I remain distant, she is always trying to get my attention. Like she will always want to talk and joke around. I just wanna tell her "u rejected me, why do you keep trying to talk to me and joke as if nothing had happened?"

My question, why do girls act like this after they rejected a guy? Why do they want attention from the guy they shot down? I'm trying to get over her but I can't since she keeps doing these things.

It's one of two things:

1. It could be like what all of the other girls said, she enjoyed the attention whether or not if she is into you. It boosts our ego, makes us feel important, wanted, pretty, etc.

2. She actually might have been into you, but was just to shy to admin it. Or other reasons like not dating a co-worker, she might have been/is taken, she really isn't into relationships, but enjoyed flirting.

Whatever it is she enjoyed it, even though it seemed like she wouldn't give you the time of day. And now that what she has is gone (you), she wants it.

I'm not going to lie, I'm somewhat like her. I sometimes do reason #1 and reason #2 just not fond of relationships. Another mistake that I have made multiple of times is ignore my feelings or back off of a guy because my friend(s) already dated him. Which made it 10x harder because I have WAY

I NEVER give a guy attention like that which might mislead him - I will ONLY always seek out attention when I actually DO like guy. But then again, I don't bother dating guys I am not 100% into, and I suppose some women do. My thinking is that it is not her ego, but that she might like you and wants you still like her.

I think you should tell her something, and it doesn't have to be in a mean way, just like hey, when I asked you out, you weren't interested, so if that's the case, either we leave it at that or we go out to a movie - something along those lines.

She just wants the attention so show her a good time, continue to be her friend, make silly faces, laugh lots, joke around the whole time, make fun of her, don't take it so seriously... you will regret it... after all you cannot desperately force someone to like you... so just be her special friend and she will come to you hard eventually if she thinks you're more than that... leave it up to her just chill..

try and laugh at the whole situation, like what you're gonna croak dramatically arms spread laying in the rain if you can't be with her? I think not...

Both girls AND guys do this. It's pretty much to boost their ego. She probably enjoyed you giving her your attention and constantly trying to win her over; it made her feel important. Now that you've stopped, she no longer has that boost and is trying to get it back. I don't know much about her to think otherwise, but whatever you do, don't get sucked back in!

She's doing it because she loves the attention you're giving her. She wants to feel wanted, even if she doesn't like you. It sucks I know.
