But the funny thing i am from Europe either Americans are insane with This companies or I just don't get it. Where is racism showing in this adverts? I think it was other way around Uncle Bens was promoting not racism, but that there is Black people on products. Like seriously why remove Uncle Bens? I liked that his face was on there. Why remove the Indian? Where is racism? People insane this days
no, peoples perception of what racism is is rising, 30 years ago people would laugh at you if u said a food can be racist, nowadays people will take it as a serious concern, its jus fucking food dawg, how can it be racist? im white, now if a new snack came out called crackers that was made from white chocolate would i care? wouldn't give a fuck, its food
Society is becoming less racist, and with that social pressure on companies to move away from outdated racial stereotypes is increasing (which is a good thing). The companies themselves don't give a shit about whether they're racist or not. They care about profits. If society is against racism, they will brand themselves as anti-racists or at least non-racists.
The food was never racist, the true racist are people like you who perceive everything though a SJW lense with out realizing how your just being a authoritarian A-hole. People like you killed stand up comedy and humor in general.
Food makers are just kowtowing to the snowflakes and childish who are under the illusion they know what's best. What's next? Taking Toucan Sam off the box of Fruit Loops because PETA might start crying and whining about it? Most ethnicities I know don't really give a shit.
Oh my god why does everything have to do with race? A few weeks ago I had a customer complaining that Nick Jonas was super racist to her. How exactly is Mick Jonas a racist when he decide to marry Choppa lady Southside of his grace
You can still be racist and married outside of your race lol 😆 who you are married to doesn’t really mean anything. Why do you suppose there or divorces? Do you not know there’s domestic violence in married couples? Like wtf
Food cannot be racist. Now ads and product marketing that's another story but you said food... so... lol. And the actual answer to any of it, is it all depends on a case by case bases of what the actual intension of it was and how it was created.
Wait. . . . hold 'dem horses, did food packaging have blacks hanging from trees? Were there dudes wearing Klan outfits with burning crosses on the front food labels? Did I miss something?
I never thought of food products as being racist at all. I have yet to see any changes in the world because they changed a label. The crime rates seem just as bad, and murder rates are soring all the time.
I think they are trying to make it less racist by removing the persons image from the box. Anywho it still taste the same so I could careless either way
I'm not buying into any of this. Food is good, and Cream of 🌾 and Malto Meal are still breakfast favorites of mine, regardless of any secret agendas you claim thier mascots have.
the majority of it I find to be low grade garbage that shouldn't be eaten anyways, so I don't care.
looks like stupidity to me...

The term uncle and aunt in the south is used for people that is favored and close to you no matter what color. They may have used it for slaves that they favored but they also use it for other whites.
It is just another way to erase our history and our culture. One of the essential characteristics of communism. Beware, it is the agenda of the radical left and must be stopped before they destroy our country and our freedoms.
Yah removing all the black racist characters while white characters like kentucky friend chickens or starbucks remains. Good job.

Not quite sure I understand this comment as the Starbucks mascot is a mythical siren and the original Col. Sanders was a real person, Harland David Sanders, and founder of KFC.
So was Jamima and Ben. But now they removed black and native faces and kept white ones. It feels a bit "horseshoe" to me. The motivation might be respect for minorities, but it has the same outcome as minority erasure.
Let's just say you have a valid point..." White faces" as you say does not carry the same conotation as ethnically diverse people in the country due to historical context and still held implicit and explicit racist views and people's resistance to be aware of it.
@OpenClose What white faces? These companies didn't put white people on their boxes, in lieu of the characters they took off, they removed the images as requested by those that felt offense.

Finland use to have liquorice bars named after Pekka. That is a normal Finish name but on that candybar, the most stereotypical big lipped black face.
Also we used to have cream filled chocolattes names: Kiss of a n**.
Thats how it was in the 90s.

@snowboarder720 Fuck OFF! I'm blocking you
Argh fine, I'm convinced, send us your passport picture and we'll use that instead.
Or how about an image of all races holding hands?
Or just a caucasian woman on the front.
Or would that still be racist?

Okay, how was Aunt Jemima racist? I'm dead serious, how was that racist?
You could have put an Aunt Jane and just had it be some fat white lady and nobody would have said a damn thing.
You people don't make any fucking sense to me.
I never thought of food products as being racist at all.

More soulless if you ask me. It wasn't racist to begin with.

Hey remember in the 60s when black people were protesting about the faces we put on maple syrup, me neither.

Those labels were never created to be racist or negative in any way. They were complimentary. Can't understand how anybody could view them as racist.
