My Favorite Types of Cake

I don't get to have cake often, most times it's just plain chocolate or vanilla for a special occasion. And that's pretty boring, so I'm going to share my favorite cakes.

Funfetti Cake

My Favorite Types of Cake

This is pretty retro, but I'm a 90s baby so this fits perfectly. There's something delicious about a cake with whipped frosting, sprinkles, and possibly candy bits. It's an upscale from regular vanilla and I love it so much! It's definitely not just for birthdays, but I'd wonder what people think of those who do.

Carrot Cake

My Favorite Types of Cake

Carrots is one of my favorite vegetables, so carrot cake works for me. I love it when it has the walnuts, pecans, and/or raisins inside the cake. The cream cheese frosting pairs well with everything the cake has to offer. But I've noticed it's rare to see raisins inside of them these days. I guess people only like raisins in oatmeal cookies.

Wacky/Crazy Cake

My Favorite Types of Cake

When most people hear wacky cake, they might think of the Great Depression. But for me, wacky cake reminds me of the school cafeteria. I loved it when we were served this as a dessert with our hot lunches. It's chocolatey, delicious, and is always decorated with rainbow sprinkles. What is there not to love about it?

Raisin Cake

My Favorite Types of Cake

This one might be plainer than most cakes, but I still love it. The raisins and glaze make the cake sweet & delicious. This is also another one our schools would serve us for dessert with hot lunches. I haven't had this type of cake in years, but the memory is lovely.

Red Velvet

My Favorite Types of Cake

Yes, I know this isn't everyone's favorite type of chocolate cake, but I like it. I love the cream cheese frosting on this. Plus, guess what goes great with red velvet? Yes, vanilla ice cream does. But I was going to say white chocolate, another underrated type of chocolate. Goes great on top or wherever. I don't get to have this cake as much because no one else is a fan of it.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

My Favorite Types of Cake

If there's one thing I remember when I was younger, it was one of my older sister's baking. She'd bake many desserts for practicing her cooking classes. I loved the mini pineapple upside down cakes she would make us. Glaze, pineapple, and a cherry on top. This is a pretty sweet & fruity cake, I'll tell you that much. It especially tastes good when it's still a bit warm from the oven.

Shortcake

My Favorite Types of Cake

I love shortcake! My sister would also make strawberry shortcake quite a few times when I was younger. But I also like the berry shortcake at the festival (blueberries & strawberries). I like it whether it's angel food or vanilla cake used. Whipped cream or whipped frosting is delicious! White chocolate can also go great with this type of cake.

Pistachio Cake

My Favorite Types of Cake

This is another cake nobody likes. I've only had this once when I was at a coffee shop, and I've loved it ever since. If you haven't had it before I'll tell you how it is. It's not too sweet of a cake and has a lovely light taste of pistachios. I'm definitely ready to see it in March with Shamrock milkshakes & chocolate mint ice creams.

Cheesecake

My Favorite Types of Cake

Anyone that loves cheese also loves cheesecake! When it's made not to taste too sweet, it's good. I like it and it has so many varieties to it. I like vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, and swirl. I feel like blueberry cheesecake is underrated though. Definitely a flavor that needs more appreciation.
